2009 was a pretty crazy year. Beyoncé released "Single Ladies," Kanye stole the mic from Taylor Swift, Chris Brown revealed himself as a jerk who beats women and Miley Cyrus was still Hannah Montana! But the news that everybody wanted to talk about was Octomom. Nadya Suleman gave birth to the first set of octuplets to ever survive birth! Nadya has been through a lot since becoming the most famous mom on the planet. You won't believe what she's up to now!
Remember Octomom? Everybody wanted to talk about Nadya because she gave birth to octuplets in 2009 after undergoing in vitro fertilization.
EIGHT. She gave birth to EIGHT babies. Oh my god.
It was also the first time that all the octuplets survived past birth!
The 1998 Chukwu octuplets came close, but one died a week after birth.
Nadya went from a normal woman to an instant celebrity. She was literally everywhere in the news! She went on
Oprah,
Good Morning America and
Dr. Phil.
Nadya went into hiding after the attention became too much. But now you won't believe what she's been up to!
She's called Octomom but she actually had six children before the octuplets. She's a mom to 14 kids!
And she doesn't even have a job! So how does she raise 14 kids?
She's been receiving disability payments from the government after suffering from a back injury. And she saved up $165,000 from the payments to pay for the IVF treatments!
People were furious when they found out she was unemployed and looking after 14 kids! But she earned some money from her
TV appearances and when she appeared on the cover of tabloid magazines!
But then she ran into trouble with the law...
She filed for bankruptcy and applied for government assistance but she failed to disclose how much she earned when she started working two jobs so it spawned an investigation!
She was forced to start working as a stripper and an adult film actress and she earned $30,000!
She ended up being found guilty and was sentenced to probation AND 200 hours of community service.
To earn as much money as she could, Nadya turned to boxing. She battled other celebrities on Celebrity Boxing and actually won some matches! But then she got kicked off the show!
Nadya has been asking the public for their help through online donations. She set up a GoFundMe page and has earned $3,579 already!
After receiving several death threats in person and online, Nadya had to press pause on her life and went to a rehab center in LA for a month to deal with stress, anxiety and lack of sleep!
And now she's supposed to be releasing an album! Who knew that Octomom could sing?! Stay tuned for news about that!
