And don't worry, if you haven't had time to watch the revival, there will be absolutely no new spoilers in this article! Just spoilers from Season 1 to 7 so beware!
1. Gilmore Girls was Alexis Bledel's first acting gig! That's why in season one, Lauren Graham often has her arm around Alexis so she could help direct her to the right spots!
2. Stars Hollow is based on Washington Depot, Connecticut. The creator of Gilmore Girls, Amy Sherman-Palladino, stayed there while she was on a road trip with her husband and that's when she came up with the idea for the show.
3. Even though Rory and Lorelai are always (literally always) drinking coffee, Alexis actually can't stand coffee! So whenever her character is drinking coffee, it's actually Coca Cola in the cup!
4. Scott Patterson wasn't hired on the show to be a series regular. He was only signed on to be in the first episode but everybody on set could see that there was chemistry between him and Lauren so they instantly hired him to sign on for more episodes!
Luke and Lorelai forever <3
5. Anybody out there on #TeamJess? Well, guess what! He was only written on the show so that Lorelai and Luke had yet another reason to not date.
6. Lauren found out that Gilmore Girls got canceled when she was having dinner at a restaurant! Her agent had to phone the restaurant that she was eating at because her cell phone was off!
That must've sucked getting that phone call. BUT THE SHOW IS BACK NOW SO ALL IS WELL.
7. Even though Luke and Lorelai's relationship were a huge part of the show, IRL the actors didn't get along with each other like their characters did on screen. In reality, Lauren revealed that they were just co-workers who got along but weren't best friends.
"It's fine. I think these characters have a great chemistry and that does mirror our chemistry as people. We're not intimates. We work well together."
8. Lorelai and Rory's house is super similar to Lorelai's childhood doll house. In one episode, she said it was the one of the few things she cherished the most from her childhood.
Fun fact: It's the same dollhouse can be seen in Mrs. Kim's shop in the 20% off sale!
9. Milo Ventimiglia and Alexis dated IRL for three and a half years!
So Jess and Rory happened in real life?! *PTERODACTYL SCREAMING*
10. Have you ever watched Gilmore Girls and stopped to think about how fast everybody talks? It's like every character is a sass monster all the time! The average script for an episode is actually 75-80 pages. Normally, a script for an hour-long show is only 45-50!
Because everybody talks so fast, none of the actors are allowed to improvise or ad-lib ANYTHING.
11. If you've noticed, Rory sometimes speaks Spanish with some of the maids that Emily has hired. On the show, Rory can only say basic phrases but in real life, Alexis speaks Spanish fluently!
12. Luke wasn't originally supposed to be a guy! It was written as a woman but the producers decided that there weren't enough main male characters on the show.
And that's why Luca became Luke?
13. Lane Kim is based on Helen Pai, a producer on the show and the best friend of the creator!
Lane's band is called Hep Alien, which is an anagram of Helen Pai!
14. Carole King wrote and sings the theme song, "Where You Lead." She rerecorded the song so she could sing it with her daughter, Louise Goffin.
Carole is on the show too! She was a guest star in Season 3 as the record store owner who lets Lane use her drum set for practice!
15. When Season 7 started, Amy left the show as a producer and so her vision for the end of the show never got to happen! She said that she has planned the last four words of the show for a while and was sad it wasn't used in the series finale. But... she got her way in the revival!
The last four words of the revival are exactly what she wanted.
SHARE if you want the Gilmore Girls revival to come back for a second season!
