Their daughter Brylen was diagnosed with anencephaly in the womb, a condition that affects the development of the brain and skull.
Born in a loving environment with her eyes open, the new parents cherished the first few moments of Brylen's birth, holding and taking pictures with their daughter before she was taken to the morgue to be cooled.
Although not often discussed, in situations like these babies are removed from the parents in order to be cooled before the end of their life. It is a heartbreaking moment when parents have to say goodbye, and one that the Rascos wanted to make easier for future parents...

Two and half years after their daughter passed, the Rascos did something amazing.
Brittney and Brady knew how hard it had been to say goodbye to their daughter Brylen so shortly after their daughter’s birth. “We knew that her body needed to be on ice, because her body had already changed at such a quick standpoint because infants just do,” Brittany shared.
“That feeling of emptiness began to become real, you know, her not being in the room with us.”
Brittney and Brady wanted to help future parents who would walk down the same difficult road they did and provide any opportunity to spend more time with their newborn.

Recently, they made an incredible purchase for other couples…
Brittney and Brady decided to purchase a “CuddleCot,” which is a special cooling bassinet.
The machine helps keep an infant's body cooled so that a child can head into rest surrounded by their parents, rather than in a morgue.
“That’s exactly what I’m looking for” said Brittney when she first heard of the special cot. The couple knew that this would provide a temporary spot where infants could rest for a longer period of time in the presence of their loving family.

“That’s what we’re giving – the gift of time”
The Rascos reached out to family and friends to help them purchase the CuddleCot and were able to present the gift to Covenant Hospital, the same hospital where they gave birth to their daughter Brylen.
"We are so thankful for the hope that our support has given us, family support and friend support, and the financial backing for us to be able to do great things through Brylen," Brittney said in gratitude.

The couple knows that this cot will help future parents spend precious moments with their children following birth.
After their own painful experience, the Rascos were able to help other couples in the future, and they know that their gift will have a positive impact for years to come.
Brady expressed how important the cot would be for other parents, sharing, "They're only going to get to spend so much time with [their child], and we wanted to make sure that others had that opportunity."
