Mom's Selfie Taken Just After C-Section Proves The Joy Of Childbirth Is Universal

With the wide world of the internet broadening our horizons, it's important to be reminded about the breadth and variety found even in life events that may seem universal. Take childbirth, for example. These days there are so many options and opinions for how it should be done and so much arguing over the details that we sometimes forget that the event is ultimately about the joy of bringing a baby into the world, regardless of the method chosen. 

That's why this candid birth photo taken of Thaise De Mari, the owner of an online clothing store, is so important. Her daughter Carmel was delivered via C-section, but the joy is universal. 

Baby Carmel has fit into the family well, especially with her four-legged sibling, Anja. 

As Thaise De Mari noted on her Instagram: "Status: in a serious relationship of great fidelity, companionship and unconditional love!"

De Mari documented her pregnancy throughout, sharing both spontaneous and professional photos.

This one with Anja is my favorite. 

After De Mari first uploaded the post-birth photo, there was plenty of praise, but also some troubling backlash against the pic, with some alleging that it was faked and others judging the mother's choice of a C-section.  

She recently reposted the photo, urging the haters to stop and reiterating that she simply wished to share the happiest moment of her life with those she cares about. 

Now three months old, Carmel is as cute as ever and looking ready to help her mom in the fashion business.

She's definitely a baby fit for the best dressed lists!
