1. Melissa was in a improv comedy group called The Groundlings. That's actually where she met her future Bridesmaids co-stars, Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph!
2. She met her husband in The Groundlings too and they've frequently collaborated together! You'll recognize him as Air Marshall Jon in Bridesmaids!
3. She admits that growing up she had a weird goth phase where she would wear turtlenecks as pants.
We've all been there, Melissa!
4. She completely embarrassed herself when she first met Sandra Bullock, her co-star in The Heat. She couldn't stop saying Sandra's full name to her.
But it's all good now! They are good friends and their kids have play dates!
5. When Melissa first moved to Hollywood to try out acting, she was told by a manager that she'd never make it as an actor until she lost weight.
Ugh. Why are people so mean?!
6. She said that she based the look and personality of Megan in Bridesmaids on Guy Fieri!
Megan is clearly the best character in that movie!
7. She started her own fashion line because she was frustrated with what was out there in the market for plus size women. “I just wanted to do a basic closet that I couldn’t find."
8. Melissa said the most disgusting scene to film in Bridesmaidswas the vomit in the dress-fitting scene! Apparently, the vomit was made of oatmeal and food coloring.
Best scene ever? I think so!
9. Melissa is related to someone famous! Her cousin is Jenny McCarthy!
That must be so cool to have another famous person in the family!
10. Melissa actually made her acting debut on Jenny's show, The Jenny McCarthy Show.
11. When she auditioned for Gilmore Girls, the casting directors knew she was perfect for Sookie because the two of them couldn't stop laughing at Melissa's performance!
12. When she lived in NYC, she was roommates with one of the most famous shoe designers in the world, Brian Atwood! Melissa still wears his shoes on the red carpet!
