John Lee Cronin knows what I'm talking about. The 21 year old loves unique and crazy socks so much that he and his father have founded an online store called "John's Crazy Socks."
John has Down Syndrome, but by combining his love of socks, his schooling in retail and customer service, and his father's background in websites and online stores, John isn't limited by his supposed disability.
His dad, Mark X. Cronin, leads Paumonok Innovations Inc., which focuses on creating websites and niche online stores. It's a perfect fit!
For years, John had wanted to try starting a business with his dad. After tossing around ideas like a food truck or a "fun store," they finally settled on John's first love: socks.
"John's Crazy Socks" was born!
While Mark takes care of the orders and background business work, John's in charge of making sure deliveries go out on time. Every day he takes bags of packages to the post office.
John works hard to ensure that orders are shipped the same day they come in.
Most recently, the store released new Down Syndrome Awareness Socks. $2 out of every sale goes to charity: $1 to the National Down Syndrome Society and $1 to the Association for Children with Down Syndrome.
The socks come in both knee-high and ankle-length options, as well as in a choice of purple or yellow. The "3 ❤️ 21" pattern on them represents the extra 21st chromosome that is the source of Down Syndrome. In addition to those specific socks, the company donates 5% of their profits to the Special Olympics, which John competes in.
I think these are my favorites in the catalog! I particularly love the library socks!
