After six (long) movies, we are about to get even more Lord of the Ringsin our lives — whether you like it or not.
This week, Amazon officially announced their commitment to a multi-season television adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's classic book series.
The new series will take place in Middle Earth and will explore storylines before the events of the first novel — but it won't cover the same ground at The Hobbit.
And of course, the internet wasn't exactly chill about Amazon messing with its precious.
In fact, fans of the popular series were pretty confused about Amazon's announcement.
^Actual footage of me trying to process how I feel about this.
Some were absolutely not here for it.
Securing the rights to Lord of the Ringsprobably cost Amazon all of the money, and according to EW, the new series could be one of the most expensive TV shows ever made, but fans are still skeptical.
I mean, there's got to be a wealth of untapped fantasy stories out just waiting to be made, right?
Add Star Wars to this list and this is actually pretty accurate ...
And when Frodo Baggins himself seems confused, that's when you know you've got a problem...
One does not simply reboot The Lord of the Rings.
But others were excited about the chance to revisit Middle Earth and the characters we already love.
Umm, did you just say angsty teenage Aragorn? I'm not sure we could handle that much smoldering, but I am so willing to try!
The move is likely Amazon's answer to HBO's wildly popular fantasy drama, Game of Thrones, which will come to an end in 2019. The new series does not have a cast, writer, or premiere date at this time.
TBH, if they don't cast the Stranger Thingskids as hobbits, then why even bother?
Who do you think they should cast?
