1. Natalie Portman lived and breathed the life of a ballerina for Black Swan. She was in intense rehearsals all day, she lost an incredible amount of weight and she even suffered an on-set injury by dislocating a rib!
Was all of the pain and suffering worth it? She did end up winning the Oscar!
2. Is there a more iconic scene other than the opening of Scream with Drew Barrymore? To get on an emotional level where she would hyperventilate and scream for each take, Drew and director Wes Craven had a "secret story" that he would tell her and it made her cry! Those tears? Authentic.
3. Cuba Gooding Jr. transformed himself to play OJ Simpson by altering his voice. Unfortunately, he did it all throughout filming, so he thinks he's damaged his vocal cords. He went to the doctor who couldn't find anything wrong, so Cuba thinks it might even be in his head.
“It took me a month to get out of the mindsetof O.J.” he explains. “It’s funny what we have to do as actors to understand something. Our body goes along with it. Once you put yourself in it, your body believes it.”
4. Christian Bale in The Machinistis the definition of a physical transformation. Christian dropped 60 pounds and immediately after started bulking up to play Batman in Batman Begins. Unfortunately, his stomach had shrunk since he lost the weight and he got sick!
That can't be good for the body or the mind to lose and gain that much weight in such a short amount of time.
5. Leonardo DiCaprio suffered through a brutal filming process for The Revenant. Leo slept in animal carcasses, jumped in freezing rivers, and ate raw bison liver even though he's vegetarian. Did it all work out? Yes, he won the Oscar!

6. Linda Blair said it wasn't playing the possessed child in The Exorcist that was traumatizing but rather the promotion that followed. She was constantly asked questions about faith, religion, and possession that she couldn't handle.
"To me The Exorcist was a work of fiction; I didn’t realize then that it dealt with anything in reality, and so when the press kept asking me about all the devil stuff, it just kept adding to the pressure I was under, and it was just an awful thing to go through as a teenager."
7. A Clockwork Orange is one of the scariest movies ever. Malcolm McDowell suffered for the movie during the brainwashing scene. He experienced temporary blindness and a scratched cornea.
8. Jamie Foxx's performance in Ray is so good that it won him an Oscar. But filming the movie wasn't the greatest experience because Jamie would suffer from panic attacks because of the prosthetic eyelids he wore.
9. We all know Kyle Richards from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but she started off in show business as Lindsey Wallace in Halloween. She said she was traumatized to the point where she slept with her mom until she was 15.
10. Anne Hathaway broke our hearts when she played Fantine in Les Misérables. To play the role, she had to go on an extreme diet to lose weight and she admittedto feeling physically and emotionally deprived.
"It took me weeks till I felt like myself again."
11. Patrick Wilson was scared on the set of The Conjuring 2 when a curtain started shaking even though nobody was behind it and there were no fans on set. Now he believes that his own house might be haunted!
12. Whoa... talk about going there for a role. Ashton Kutcher had to go to the hospital after he went on a diet to play Steve Jobs in Jobs. What a scary experience!
13. On the set of Rosemary's Baby, director Roman Polanski asked Mia Farrow to eat raw liver for a scene even though she was a vegetarian. The worst part of it was that she had no idea she had to do it several times for different takes.
14. Charlize Theron was doing one of her stunts on the set of Aeon Flux when she injured herself. "That injury scared me — I was almost paralyzed."
15. It wasn't easy filming The Passion of Christ for Jim Caviezel. He was struck by lightning on set, and he also suffered from hypothermia and pneumonia.
