12 On-Set Secrets About 'Glee'

SHARE
It was absolutely tragic when Glee ended last year. It left a huge glee club–sized hole in the TV landscape and we'll never be able to get it back! Even though it ended, Glee made the actors into huge stars who everyone became obsessed with. Even though we might not get a reunion anytime soon,  we can still relive the magic of Glee through some of the on-set secrets that made the show what it is. I recommend you listen to the Glee version of "Don't Stop Believin'" while you read this!

Glee seriously had the best cast ever.

They always seemed like they were having such a good time on screen and off! I wanted to join their little family!

And LBR, the New Directions was always the best glee club. Nobody even came close to them at Sectionals, Regionals or Nationals!

OMG remember when they had to write original songs for Regionals?!

It's so sad that the show is over but let's hope for a cast reunion soon!

1. Before Lea Michele's audition, she got into a car accident right in front of Fox studios. She ran into her audition while pulling shards of glass from her hair.

OMG Lea was so dedicated!

2. Darren Criss got the part of Blaine after he posted a video on Glee's Myspace page! He sang "Lean On Me" and KILLED IT.

Blaine was one of the best characters ever! Plus, Darren's voice is literally to die for. Remember the Warblers' version of "Teenage Dream"?

3. Ryan Murphy noticed that Jayma Mays ate a peanut butter sandwich every day so he wrote it in the script that Emma Pillsbury would too!

Emma was one of the cutest characters. I LOVED all her outfits!

4. Even though Dianna Agron's name is always first in the credits, she was the last one to be cast! She wasn't cast until the night before filming started on the pilot!

5. Ryan wrote the part of Rachel Berry for Lea Michele. Lea says that Rachel reminds her of when she was younger and obsessed with winning.

6. Ryan revealed that the writers had to change the show after Cory died. The show was supposed to end with Rachel coming back to Lima as a Broadway star to be with Finn who became a teacher at McKinley.

So the writers decided to write that Rachel mentions this as a dream she had to Mr. Schuester. OMG *sobs for days about Cory*

7. Nobody from Glee knew Lea's secret for months! She and Cory Monteith were a couple for months but kept it a secret from the cast. They didn't tell ANYONE! They were together for almost two years before he died.

#Monchele was my real life OTP. And #Finchel will always be my OTP!

8. Heather Morris wasn't actually cast as a character! She was brought on to teach Jenna Ushkowitz and Chris Colfer the "Single Ladies" dance and the producers liked her so much, they wrote the role of Brittany for her!

Did you know that Heather was also Beyoncé's backup dancer?!

9. Lea auditioned with the song "On My Own" and Chris Colfer auditioned with the song "Mr. Cellophane." Their characters audition for the New Directions with the same songs!

10. Rachel and Santana were enemies on the show. It looks like it's not all just acting because Lea and Naya Rivera would get in screaming matches on set ALL THE TIME.

Naya went to the producers and told them that Lea was a terrible person to work with. OMG the drama is real.

11. The writers would write in references to celebrities they wanted on the show. It worked because these celebs ended up playing characters on Glee! It worked for Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson and Demi Lovato.

Gwyneth's character, Holly Holliday, was the funniest! And remember how amazing her rendition of "Forget You" was?! Holly would be the best substitute teacher.

12. All the actors took props home with them after the show ended. Lea took home Finn's football jersey, Rachel's penny loafers, knee socks and the "Finn" necklace.

COMMENTand tell us your favorite character from the show!

I LOVED Quinn but shout out to Howard Bamboo!
