13 Behind-The-Scenes Facts About 'The Little Rascals'

Can you believe that it's been 22 years since The Little Rascals was released?! I was obsessed with watching the movie when I was growing up. I loved the adventures and troubles that the kids got up to. I always thought the characters looked like they were having so much fun! I was kind of jealous and even wished that I was on set filming the movie with the other child actors! The movie's been out for ages, but it will always hold a special place in our hearts. 1. Most people don't know this, but the movie is based on a series of short films that started from the 1920s!

2. Did you notice two very famous child actors in the movie? Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have a cameo as Darla's friends at her sleepover party!

3. Supposedly, Bug Hall and Travis Tedford really wanted to learn the choreography for the ballet scene, but they were told to just goof off and improvise the moves!

4. Before each day of filming, the director made sure that ALL the child actors got a hug from her! She wanted the kids to feel safe and trusted in the group!

5. The director decided to film the movie specifically out of order. She wanted to film the middle of the movie first and then the opening scenes later so that the kids would already feel like close friends when the movie started!

6. Because of the movie Bugg, Travis and Blake Jeremy Collins became really good friends.

7. Did you ever notice that before the race, Buckwheat acknowledge his mom in the audience and then Pork says "whoopy"? That's a reference to Whoopi Goldberg who played Buckwheat's mom!

8. There's a cute nod to the original movie series! Spanky and Alfalfa's last names are Switzer and McFarland. Those were the last names of the actors who played the characters in the 1930s!

9. During the race, Waldo says, "Atomic batteries to power, turbines to speed." That's a phrase that Robin would say in the 1960s Batman TV show!

10. Ross Bagley completely improvised the whole "We Got a Dollar" number!

11. President-elect Donald Trump plays Waldo's dad in the movie.

12. The director loved making the movie, but admitted that it was pretty challenging to work with children because they didn't always hit their mark or say their lines properly.
