Kill Bill is THE testament that Quentin Tarantino is a genius.
Say what you will about his brattiness, his unapologetic stance on using stylized violence and even his love for using harsh, vulgar epithets, he knows what he wants in his movies.The best example of this was his story about The Bride, who's seeking to get her revenge from the assassins who took away everything she ever loved. Simple, right? Anyone could do it, right?
WRONG.
You should check out the flick if you haven't already but before you do check this out!
1. Tarantino and Uma Thurman, who played The Bride, came up with the idea in a couple minutes while they were shooting Pulp Fiction in 1994... ten years before they could finally shoot it.
Tarantino knew she'd be perfect for the part so he waited until Uma wasn't pregnant to begin shooting.
2. Over 450 gallons of fake blood were used during the filming.
3. Technically, Kill Billand Kill Bill: Vol. 2were the first two in Tarantino's career where you actually seethe violence instead of it just being alluded to.
Screw imagination – we paid for blooooooood.
4. The 20-minute final showdown between The Bride and Lucy Lui's O-Ren Ishii took EIGHT weeks to shoot.
It was completely worth it though...
5. Thurman called Tarantino's training camp and what he expected of her "literally absurd."
Just THREE months after she gave birth to her second child, she was tasked with learning martial arts and sword training.
6. Quentin Tarantino had the Pu—y Wagon parked in his driveway, drove it around L.A. and rented it out for music videos.
If you look you can find it parked in Missy Elliot’s video for “I’m Really Hot” and Lady Gaga’s video for “Telephone.”
7. The Bride is perfect at timing since her fight with Lucy Lui's character ends exactly 4 minutes and 59 seconds after she says, "I hope you saved your energy. If you haven’t, you may not last five minutes."

8. Because the film took so long, Tarantino spent a lot of time with Uma Thurman and her daughter and gave birth to the whole family-centric story.
The Bride would have been a completely different character otherwise!
The pause in the fight happens because The Bride doesn't want to kill Vivica A. Fox in front of her on-screen daughter.
9. Tarantino went old-school in his special effects like exploding condoms filled with fake blood to get spatter effects.
He was DEAD SET against using CGI effects in the films.
10. If you look close enough, and tilt your head you'll see that whenever The Bride is wearing her yellow jumpsuit, the bottom of her shoes read, “F—k U.”
11. Jackass: The Movie had a massive impact on Kill Bill: Vol. 2 and made the fight between Elle and The Bride more chaotic than it was intended.
Originally the fight between Elle and The Bride was supposed to be graceful as her showdown with O-Ren Ishii.
12. When The Bride visited Esteban Vihaio in Kill Bill: Vol. 2, the film crew ACTUALLY went to a real Mexican brothel.
AKA all the prostitutes in the background weren’t extras – they were paid sex workers..
13. And finally, if there's a Kill Bill: Vol. 3 it'll be at least least ten years before the next one and it'll star Vivica A. Fox's on-screen daughter.
“The star will be Vernita Green’s [Vivica A. Fox’s] daughter, Nikki [Ambrosia Kelley]. And I know everything that will take her up to this time. Sofie Fatale [Julie Dreyfus] will get all of Bill’s money, and she will raise Nikki, and she will go to take on the Bride. Nikki deserves her revenge every bit as much as the Bride deserved hers. I might even, a year from now, shoot a couple of scenes for it and put it in the vault for 15 years from now so I can get the actresses while they’re this age.”
