5 Old Cars That Look Oddly Modern

SHARE
Most people have some fond memories in a car. From road trips to the times you've jammed to an awesome song on the radio, you know what I'm talking about! But did you know the cars of today are the result of old concepts? Check out the cars below. Some of them have a huge part in ways cars look today and others are just super cool. Share with a friend who'd love that feeling of nostalgia.

1947 Norman Timbs Special

The Timbs Special cost $10,000 USD (about $107,000 today) and took around two-and-a-half years to build. It was only used for show circuits. With its streamline body, it might have been a huge hit in our times!

1936 Stout Scarab

The Scarab is somewhat considered the first minivan. It boasted a price tag of $5000 USD (about $87,000 today), and had some of the most innovate features available at the time. Sadly, it did not sell well.

1955 Chrysler (Ghia) Streamline X "Gilda"

Can I make a Jetson's reference without feeling too old? Another touring car that never made mass production, it was supposed to be outfitted with a jet engine. Ya, the fifties were cool.

1942 L'Oeuf Electrique

Built during war times, it was one of the first electric cars. Only one was ever made though because resources were scant during the war. That one care could travel up to 100 km/h and was a head turner at the time though!

1953 General Motors Firebird 1 XP-21

Okay, this was an actual fighter aircraft on the ground. It had 370 horsepower! It was never intended for mass productuon, but can you imagine driving that around? I'd ask for your autograph if you drove that around!
