SHARE
James Franco has been acting for ages! He's become a household name since starring in Freaks and Geeks way back in 1999. I first saw him and became obsessed with him after I saw him as Harry Osborn in the Spider-Man trilogy. Now, he's doing Oscar-nominated movies, he's in hit comedies with Seth Rogen and he even has time to go to school to get his degree! Here's everything you need to know about the mysterious James Franco!

1. In 2009, he played a recurring character named Franco on General Hospital. He loved working on the show because his mom got to play his character's mother on the show!

2. One time, he tricked everyone with a tattoo of Elizabeth Taylor on his scalp. Don't worry, it's fake!

It does seem like something he'd actually do though...

3. He became such good friends with Tobey Maguire on the set of the Spider-Man movies that he would babysit Tobey's daughter on set!

4. There's literally nothing this man can't do. He's a painter, author, professor and musician.

5. In Pineapple Express, James was originally supposed to play Dale Denton, the normal guy. But he really wanted to play the crazy Saul Silver. Good thing Seth Rogen and Judd Apatow agreed to it!

6. Seth admitted that he was a bit creeped out and thought it was bizarre when he found out that James drew nude portraits of him for fun.

Seth also did say that he was quite flattered that he was James' muse. Those two have a very close friendship!

7. James has admitted that he's read Twilight. And guess what? He's on #TeamEdward!

8. Ever since someone took a picture of James sleeping in class, he said that he's terrified of dozing off in public now.

9. When his character runs into a tree in Pineapple Express, James got too into character and actually ran into the tree so hard that he had to get three stitches!

10. James has a younger brother named Dave who is also an actor!

So who's hotter? Dave or James?

11. When he filmed Flyboys, he earned his pilot license!

12. When Judd first cast James in Freaks and Geeks, he thought James was ugly! "I thought he was funny and strange. We had no sense that he was attractive ... After we hired him, we kept hearing from women in the office that he was so dreamy."

13. He was nominated for an Oscar for his performance in 127 Hours. That same year, he hosted the Oscars with Anne Hathaway.

14. Robert De Niro was so impressed with James' performance as James Dean that he wanted him to play his son in City by the Sea.

15. James dropped out of UCLA to pursue acting, but his parents didn't support his decision. So he got a job at McDonald's and would practice different accents whenever he spoke to the customers.

And look how far he's come!
