Tokyo Gets Beautiful November Snowfall For First Time In 54 Years

SHARE
It's the most wonderful time of the year.

There's less than a month to go until Christmas and the signs of it are everywhere. Happy shoppers are stocking up on gifts for their loved ones. The smell of freshly baked cookies wafts through the crisp, cool air. Children run around outside building forts and making snow angels.

It's the most wonderful season of all.

Especially in Tokyo, where the snow has fallen in November for the first time in 54 years.

Residents have been posting the most magical-looking pictures of the picturesque snowfall.

And everyone is taking advantage of the beautiful weather.

Both children and their parents are marveling at the first November snowfall of their lifetimes.

The first snow began to fall 40 days before winter.

That's something that hasn't happened since 1962.

Meteorologists expected 2 cm of snow to fall...

But it's stuck to the ground and surpassed everyone's expectations.

Both residents and visitors are thrilled.

This photo's poster, inariku, said, "First November Snow in Tokyo in 54 years!! Blessed to be there when it happened!"

The hashtag #tokyosnow reveals over a thousand beautiful snapshots of the scenic beauty.

Unfortunately, #snowkyo hasn't picked up much steam, even though it's a much better hashtag.

Snowtoro

There may not be quite enough yet for a full-sized snowman, but this tiny take on Japan's famous Totoro does the trick.

It's pretty special, beautiful, and magical.

This autumn snow has enamored just about everyone.

Now, let's see if they still feel this way in February!
