16 Easy Rustic Leather DIYs For Your Home

SHARE
Sure, some may see the word leather and imagine biker dudes, but when I see it, I think of warm and rustic projects for around my house. You should, too! It's a much less unnerving mental image. (Unless you're into the biker look. Then just consider this a pleasing additional mental image in your catalog!)

If you like any of these projects and plan to give them a try yourself, be sure to tell us all about it in the COMMENTS!

1. Hang your magazines or books.

This sleek wall addition can be both a conversation piece and a space-saver. If you don't have room on your side table or nightstand, you can hang your current read from the wall.

2. Support a shelf.

Those leather loops make a great alternative to standard shelf brackets, too.

3. Make a classy file folder.

Keep important documents in a folder worthy of them, or you could also turn these leather folders into a sleeve for your tablet.

4. A rich-looking alternative to a classic basket.

Could you imagine what a chic slouchy basket like this one would cost in a store?

5. A place for everything, and everything in its place.

Pinching the corners of a leather square together can make a great little bowl to contain any odds and ends that may stray throughout your home.

6. Get a handle on your serving trays.

If you plan to serve food directly on the board, don't forget to seal it with a food-safe varnish.

7. Accessorize your accessories.

A "scarf cuff" is easy to make and can add that little extra something to your winter ensemble.

8. Prevent water rings with style!

A bit of crochet around the outside and some felt on the bottom makes for chic leather coasters that won't slide around the table when you don't want them too. You could also stiffen them more with some cardstock between the leather and felt.

9. Replace boring hardware.

Leather loops can bring warmth and personality to an otherwise bland cupboard or dresser.

10. Weave leather strips into a stool.

You can make the stool frame yourself! Or, you could even use this technique to re-cover an ugly one you already own.

11. Learn to make leather roses.

Mastering this technique can open up a ton of other project possibilities!

12. Fold into a handy pouch.

A little triangle-shaped pouch like these ones would be a great way to keep things organized in your bag or purse.

13. Label and organize your cords.

No more tangled and unknown wires hanging out at the bottom of your backpack.

14. Don't limit yourself to the color brown.

Look how cheerful these leather tags are!

15. Make a big, leather monogram.

This would make a great gift, and look fabulous in a study!

16. Make easy, one-piece slippers!
