ABC Finally Cast The First Black Bachelorette After 12 Seasons

People sure love to complain about Mondays. But not me! Do you know why I love the start of a new week? Monday means that I get to rush home, get into my sweatpants, raid my cabinets for junk food, and plop myself on the couch to watch The Bachelor. Right now, I am LIVING for Nick Viall's journey to finding the one. Unfortunately, he decided to let an amazing woman go. But that doesn't mean it's the end for her! Who was the woman Nick let go? And what's next for her? She's the new bachelorette!

Nick Viall's season of The Bachelor has been filled with a lot of makeout sessions, tears, and cat fights.

It's hard to keep track of the women, since Nick is romancing over a dozen women at once.

But everybody could spot that Rachel Lindsay was a star in the making. She was given the first impression rose on the first night, and Nick was clearly very attracted to her.

But why did he let her go? He did it so she could pursue her own journey to finding love.

ABC cast Rachel as the first black bachelorette!

Rachel is a 31-year-old attorney from Texas who is very excited to find the one!

“I’m happy to represent myself as a black woman in front of America and I’m happy for America to rally behind me and see what it’s like for me to be on this journey to find love. Honestly, it’s not going to be that different from any other season of The Bachelorette.”

“I’m obviously nervous and excited to take on this opportunity but I don’t feel added pressure being the first black Bachelorette, because to me I’m just a black woman trying to find love. Yes, I’m doing on this huge stage, but again my journey of love isn’t any different just because my skin color is.”
