Yes, Tyra. For 22 cycles, we all wished we could get fancy makeovers, do crazy photo shoots and become a top model. After the models are eliminated and one lucky girl or guy has won, don't you ever wonder what happens to these people? 1. THEN
Jael Strauss was a model in cycle 8 of ANTM. On the show, Jael was eliminated after the judges weren't impressed with her Australian accent in a CoverGirl commercial. Um... was that entirely fair? Probably not.
NOW
In 2012, Jael was on an episode of Dr. Phil because of her meth and cocaine addiction. She was also homeless at the time. Unfortunately, there has't been an update on her. I hope she's doing ok!
2. THEN
Lisa D'Amato was a contestant on cycle 5 who was known to be crazy. The girls always commented on how they never had any idea what she would do next. Lisa didn't end up winning, but she was invited to compete again in the all-stars cycle!
NOW
Lisa was involved in a freak accident that left her in the hospital with a severely broken nose. She had to get reconstructive surgery on her nose but is now fully recovered. She no longer models and is fully committed to being an actress!
3. THEN
Renee Alway was a model on cycle 8. None of the girls particularly warmed up to her because she was never afraid to tell everyone exactly what she was thinking. She did pretty well onANTM and placed third!
NOW
Renee was arrested in Palm Springs for felony burglary, vehicle theft, possession of a firearm and identity theft. She's currently serving a 12-year sentence! I'll be honest and say that I did not see that one coming!
4. THEN
Whitney Thompson became the first and only plus size winner of ANTM!
NOW
Whitney decided to ditch the blonde extensions and go back to her brunette roots! She still continues to model but is also focused on her new farm-to-table restaurant, Whitney Lee's! I've checked out the menu and everything looks so good!
5. THEN
Yoanna House won cycle 2 and has consistently worked as a model. She was also the host of The Look for Less on the Style Network. Who else watched that show? I was obsessed!
NOW
While Yoanna found success in the modeling and hosting world, she decided to leave that all behind for a job as... a pilot! How cool is that?
6. THEN
Tyra didn't start adding male models to the mix until cycle 21 but Denzel was a very memorable contestant. For his makeover, Tyra gave him a beard weave! Seriously, what was Tyra thinking?
NOW
Update: he got rid of the beard weave. He now rocks an authentic goatee when he's modeling.
7. THEN
Danielle "Dani" Evans was the winner of cycle 6 and is one of the most successful winners. She's walked in New York Fashion Week and has appeared in Elle, Elle Girl and the Victoria's Secret PINK guide.
NOW
Dani is still modelling but has had to fight off rumors of skin bleaching and an eating disorder. But she reassured fans on Instagram that none of the rumors are true!
8. THEN
CariDee English was the wild child of cycle 7 but she always managed to take amazing photos. She ended up winning her cycle!
NOW
After the show, CariDee did several campaigns for brands. But she primarily works as a spokesperson for the National Psoriasis Foundation. You go, CariDee English! Four for you, CariDee English!
9. THEN
Adrianne Curry gets to have special bragging rights because she was the very first winner!
NOW
Adrianne did some modeling after the show but she is now a professional cosplayer and regularly appears at conventions.
10. THEN
Amanda Swafford was known as the "mom" of the group in cycle 3. She loved to look after the other girls. Amanda ended up making it to the top 3!
NOW
After the show, Amanda continued to model. In 2014, Amanda created a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to replace her missing front tooth. Like she said in her campaign, she just can't handle the tooth.
