8 Discoveries That Could Change Your Life Forever

SHARE
I can't remember how many times I've ignored my wife's advice about getting healthy. Yeah, I know it will eventually catch up to me, but I honestly believe that medical science will be so advanced by the time things start going south that everything will be fine anyway. Health science is becoming ridiculously advanced these days.

The last few years have been marked by a HUGE wave of mind-boggling health breakthroughs, and you need to hear about them.

Check out these eight very recent discoveries that will make you feel reallllly good about the future of medicine.

Which of these do you think will be the most important for the future? COMMENT on Facebook with your favorite.

1. Mechanical body parts are getting even better.

By studying how the brain sends signals to the limbs, scientists are allowing amputees to consciously control their own movements. Remarkable.

2. Taxi cabs for sperm were created!

Sorry, that wasn't very descriptive. Doctors have a new way to treat male infertility. For those men with less mobile sperm, tiny nanobots have been created that connect to a sperm cell and boosts its speed. This gif shows it in action!

3. The first ever successful penis transplant was in 2015.

A team of doctors in Cape Town, South Africa used a new technique to connect blood vessels and nerves in a young man who had a botched circumcision. His wife actually made him get it removed later because she didn't like how it looked. But still, it worked!

4. A brain implant was created to stop seizures!

The NeuroPace implant uses electrical stimulation (as shown in this gif) to stop the spread of epileptic seizures.

5. The first bionic eye.

A visual prosthesis has been created that allows those with damage to the eye to see again.

Here, take a closer look at it!

Amazingly, some of the patients trying the new device have been able to gaze at the stars for the first time since losing sight.

6. First successful face transplant.

Patrick Hardison received the first transplant after experiencing debilitating burns to the face.

Here is Patrick himself. Check out how amazing the transplant looks.

This work was done by surgeons at New York University.

7. Same-sex couples can have babies.

Stem cells have been reworked to allow for eggs and sperm to come from either sex. I'm sure this one will be controversial. What do you think about it? I want to know your opinion in a Facebook comment.

8. Just about any body part can be 3D printed!

2015 was an amazing year for the development of 3D-printed body parts. Pictured here is a skull patch perfectly tailored for this individual.

It's not just for skulls! Here is a 3D-printed ear.

Where was this when Evander Holyfield needed it?
