1. Vince Vaughn kept the painting given to his character, Jeremy, by Todd. I mean, who doesn't want their own commissioned painting?
It's called "Celebration."
2. It's the 6th highest grossing film for New Line Cinema, only beaten by all three Lord of the Rings films, Austin Powers in Gold Member, and Rush Hour 2.
Those arepretty tough acts to follow.
3. It's sort of based on a true story. Not specifically wedding crashing, but it was inspired by a San Francisco group called The Partygoers whose goal was to spread good cheer by crashing parties in a friendly manner.
They truly give so much for their calling.
4. There was always a wedding planner on set to help make sure that the weddings looked realistic and believable.
If you're gonna crash weddings, they'd better be legit looking ones.
5. Owen Wilson made up the "I think we use 10% of our hearts" line on the spot. Talk about quick thinking.
Methinks he definitely used a solid percent of his brain for that one.
6. The website for the film had a printable Purple Heart award to use as a pickup line and get free drinks like in the film. Authorities in the US Congress were furious and made it illegal to pretend to have a Purple Heart! Don't try this at home, folks.
Okay, that's a pretty fair complaint – we should probably respect veterans and actual Purple Heart recipients.
7. After many hours of having to smile and dance for some scenes, Christopher Walken would routinely say "fart" to Rachel McAdams to get her to keep smiling.
Hey, if it works, it works. Of course you're now imagining him saying "fart" aren't you?
8. All of the rules for wedding crashing are listed on the DVD, in a text gallery bonus feature.
This includes such goldies as Rule #57: The Ferrari is in the shop.
9. When Vince Vaughn admits to having an imaginary friend named Shiloh, it's a reference to the Neil Diamond song "Shiloh," which is, as you might imagine, about an imaginary friend.
An outfit like that seems like something straight out of the imagination, that's for sure.
10. That wasn't the only musical reference though. The line, "You've crashed a million weddings, and you rocked them all" is a play on the line from Jon Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive" where he sings, "I've seen a million faces, and I've rocked them all!"
Save a horse, ride a cowboy indeed.
11. Jane Seymour and Christopher Walken, who played the Cleary parents, were both in separate James Bond films: Seymour as the Bond Girl Solitaire in Live and Let Die, while Walken was the villain Max Zorin in A View To A Kill.
They were Roger Moore's first and last outings as James Bond, respectively.
12. Republican Senator and former Presidential hopeful John McCain and Democratic Political Commentator James Carville both make an uncredited cameo appearance in the film as guests at the first Cleary wedding.
Crossing party lines for the sake of a party.
13. The boat from Wedding Crashers, the Woodwind, is a real ship and was used as-is, including the name. It's available for charter and cruises of Annapolis, Maryland.
There was even a guy laying on the deck below Walken to help steer the ship.
14. That kindly looking older gentleman sitting beside Owen Wilson at the Italian wedding where he tells the Jabroni joke is Owen Wilson's actual uncle.
He's sure no Jabroni.
Now I think you're ready to take off and crash weddings on your own!
