That doesn't mean you have to let your home fall apart or let your kids starve just so you can have a spa day, but adding a little bit of rest and relaxation to every day can make a big difference.
1. Make a no-sew heat bag for those tender muscles.
Fill any old sock with rice and some essential oils. The bag can be chilled or warmed up in the microwave depending on the kind of comfort you're looking for.
2. Upgrade to a larger heated pad.
This one requires some sewing skills, but each pocket is filled with a mixture of rice and dried lavender.
3. Warm those toes.
Sometimes you just need to give your feet some love. A pair of warmed-up slippers is perfect.
4. Sleep better with a sleep mask.
A sleep mask can make a big difference for your quality of sleep, especially if your work hours don't match with the sun.
5. Make a weighted, chilled mask for headaches.
This sleep mask integrates a pouch filled with Poly-Fil beads that can be kept in the freezer until that headache strikes. The cold weight on your eyes will help sooth that head.
6. Make your home bathtub more spa-like.
There are tons of recipes for different bath salts, but I particularly like this vanilla lavender one. Take a few minutes to soak before bed and you'll be ready to sleep soundly.
7. No time for a bath? Try a shower steamer.
Steamers made with eucalyptus are particularly good for clearing your sinuses. For ages 10+.
8. Bath bombs are great, too!
These ones are particularly pretty with the pink rose petals mixed in.
9. A calming salve for before bed care.
A homemade salve containing cedarwood and lavender can be massaged into your feet or sore neck and shoulders before you tuck in for the night. It's especially nice if you have someone to do the massaging for you. ;)
10. Get your aromatherapy in candle form.
Sometimes just a pleasant scent is all you need to feel that tension ease in your back.
11. Or carry it with you.
Any pendant that can be opened up can hold a pompom or piece of felt infused with a few drops of your favorite essential oil.
12. Rejuvenate your skin with a DIY face mask.
This coffee and milk one will make your skin look great and wake you right up!
13. Create a little zen.
Zen gardens are both pretty decor and a perfect solution for a person with fidgety fingers. Let your mind rest while your hands are distracted by creating lovely patterns in the sand.
14. Add a bit of a treat to your morning coffee with a DIY flavored coffee creamer.
A small indulgence can make a big difference on your mood. I won't blame you if you hide this cinnamon roll-flavored one where your spouse can't find it. Who says you should have to share?
15. Make a breakfast in bed tray.
You know, as a subtle hint that sometimes you want to be pampered by your family. Or just for yourself.
What's your favorite way to relax? Mine is a good book, good coffee, and my dog asleep on my feet.
