In fact, sometimes it's the flaws that make things more fun. For example, it's probably been a while since you've seen Pretty Woman, but the fact that a croissant magically becomes a pancake in between shots is just the kind of thing to reignite your curiosity.
When a sharp-eyed viewer is made aware of something you never noticed before, it's amazing how obvious it seems once you know it's there. And seeing it yourself is a pretty fun feeling.
So let's revisit some of our favorite movies with the help of these 12 mistakes and our new, keener eye. Are you the kind of sharp-eyed movie viewer who finds new mistakes? Let me know in the comments!
1. Those don't look like ruby slippers.
When the apple trees attack Dorothy and the Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz, there's a brief moment where you can see she's wearing black shoes instead of her ruby slippers.
2. The world's fastest tattoo regret.
In She's All That, we see Taylor get a tattoo. She's later shown at the prom in a backless dress, which probably wasn't the best idea since we can now see she no longer has her ink.
3. She's a replicant, so maybe it's a feature.
Zhora isn't wearing any lipstick when Deckard chases her down. But after he shoots her, voilà!
4. No, he's not supposed to be there.
While O'Brien and Moreno are fighting in Bad Boys, this camera operator appears in plain sight. And the movie takes place in a reform school, so it's not like they're filming a street fight.
5. How many watches does this guy have?
During Vivian's fight with Stucky, his watch clearly flies off, but reappears and disappears multiple times throughout the scene.
6. That must have taken a lot of jostling.
Only in an animated movie would such a fit be possible.
7. To be fair, that would be a hard shot to pull off.
After Neo meets Morpheus in The Matrix, we can plainly see the camera reflected in this doorknob. I guess I was too lost in the magic as a kid to notice.
8. Here's a mistake you missed if you kept booing him.
In Rocky Horror Picture Show, the Criminologist mentions that the plot takes place in November. Yet, while Brad and Janet are driving, they're listening to Nixon's resignation speech, which took place in August of 1974. I guess they don't call him Tricky Dick for nothing!
9. The police car with writer's block.
It's the same police car, but in some shots its motto is "to care and protect" and in others it's "dedicated to serve."
10. Cool shades, but there's only one problem.
Sunglasses may well have existed in the mid 19th century, when Django Unchained takes place, but they wouldn't be available in the US until 1929.
11. He's such a good doctor that he's already fixing his foot.
After Lawrence cuts his foot off in Saw, we can see the outline of his real foot poking through his pants.
12. This guy isn't hiding because he's scared.
He's hiding because he's a member of the film crew. Although maybe I'd be hiding too if giant turtles were walking around!
13. It may be an alien planet, but there are some familiar people there.
After arriving on an alien planet in Stargate, OK cool you may need some sunglasses, but not necessarily a whole camera crew? Unfortunately, the crew is visible in these lovely pair of shades. Ah well, can't win every battle.
