When Quinn was a baby, he was diagnosed with cancer and underwent a year of chemotherapy, six weeks of radiation, and a number of surgeries. At 10, Quinn noticed that his right knee "didn't feel very good."
He went to the doctor and the news wasn't good.
A biopsy confirmed that Quinn had bone cancer — osteosarcoma. With little time for trial and error and only a few months later, doctors were amputating his right leg and hip.
When he woke up from the anesthesia, he immediately knew that he wanted a dog with three legs.
It took two years, but Quinn, now 12, finally stumbled upon a video on the page of Sacramento's Front Street Animal Shelter featuring Logan, a three-legged bundle of energy.
Teresa Howell, Quinn's mom, picked him up early from school the next day to drive up to the shelter where they discovered that Logan was already claimed and on hold for another family. With fingers crossed, Teresa asked the front desk how long until the hold expired and got the best news: the family had just called to say they were no longer interested!
Logan was adopted on the spot! It's the perfect way to celebrate Quinn's other good news: last January, the family received the confirmation that the cancer was truly gone!
His mom said, "Seeing him with Logan, I can just tell all the other stuff is melting away."
