1. Metric, Broken Social Scene, and Beck are the writers behind the fictional band's music in this movie.
This soundtrack is definitely worth a listen!
2. The lead singer of Canadian bandSloan was the musical supervisor.
He made sure all the actors were actually playing their instruments properly.
3. Bill Hader does all the videogame style voice overs.
"Scott earned the power of self-respect!"
4. The first ending was going to have Scott end up with Knives, not Ramona.
Which I'd be okay with. Ramona was too hipster for her own good.
5. The movie almost got an R rating but managed to skirt it by bleeping Brie Larson's character saying "fuck."
Usually, you can get away with one F-bomb, but Scott had already used the term "cocky-cock." This could not be sacrificed.
6. Scott's name is taken from a song by a Canadian indie band Plumtree, fittingly called "Scott Pilgrim."
Scott can be seen wearing one of the band's shirts in the movie.
7. Mae Whitman (an evil ex) played Anne on Arrested Development opposite Michael Cera.
Really? Her?
8. The director, Edgar Wright, also directed Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead.
I could have done with a Simon Pegg cameo.
9. The actors were encouraged not to blink so it would look kind of like anime.
Now I'm thinking about how often I blink. And now I'm uncomfortable.
10. Wright said that the movie was shot like a musical but instead of breaking out into song, they have choreographed fights.
Which – let's be honest – is 1000x cooler.
11. After auditioning 3 times, Ellen Wong (Knives) finally got the part when they found out she had a green belt in taekwondo.
If you were auditioning for this kind of a movie, wouldn't you lead with this information?
12. Scott has a zero on his shirt for most of the movie because he isn't an evil ex — yet.
But if I had to listen to Ramona all day every day, I'd make it my business to become one.
13. Cera could play the bass before being cast in the movie.
He's actually so good, he had to pretend to be worse at it so he didn't show up his co-stars.
14. The stunt doubles who Scott has to fight along with evil ex #2 are Chris Evan's actual stunt guys.
Which really is just sensible casting.
15. Wright only wanted Michael Cera in the lead role after seeing him in Arrested Development.
I respect this line of thinking so hard.
SHARE if you agree this movie has it all!
