1. Charlize Theron was initially cast as Melanie Carmichael but decided to drop out. Reese Witherspoon ended up being cast the same weekend that Legally Blonde opened in 2001!
2. The house that Melanie pretends to own was super difficult for the crew to get to. So there were huge yellow signs with arrows put up to help guide the cast and crew members to set that said "SWA." The students that went to Berry College ended up stealing the signs to keep!
3. It was illegal for Jake's plane to land on Lake Peachtree in Peachtree City, Georgia. The police issued the studio a $300 fine!
4. It was the first movie filmed in the jewelry store Tiffany's since Breakfast at Tiffanys back in 1961!
5. Dakota played a younger version of Reese's character in the movie. She was only 7 years old at the time and Dakota revealed that she had her first kiss in the movie!
Awww! That's adorable! That means her first kiss was with Thomas Curtis. I wonder if they still keep in touch?
6. In the movie, it's mentioned that there's glass that forms when lightning hits sand. And that's completely real! The term for the glass is called fulgurite.
Whoa... I thought that was a made up thing. Now I want to see fulgurite in person!
7. This is the second time Reese has appeared in a movie where the title comes from a song. Reese has always said she wanted to be a singer too...
The other movies she's been in that are also named after songs are: Jack the Bear, Just Like Heaven and Walk the Line.
8. There's a huge mistake in the movie and the actors know it! If Melanie is still married to her Jake when she's about to marry Andrew, then there's no way that she would've been able to get a marriage license!
9. In the original reception scene, Jake announces, "Melanie Carmichael is dead" and then he says, "Long live Felony Melanie." The reaction of Melanie's mother to the supposed death of her daughter upset the test audiences so much that they reshot the scene without the practical joke!
I mean... that's a really mean practical joke to play on someone's mom!
10. The woman that Andrew is shown marrying at the end of the movie originally had a bigger part in the movie. But the test audiences didn't understand her relationship with Andrew before breaking up with Melanie so Erin's scenes were all scrapped except for the small part during the credits!
11. You can only see Erin Vanderbilt in a newspaper announcing the wedding.
Aren't you so glad that Melanie ended up with Jake in the end? I was worried that she'd end up with Andrew!

WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN?! Um, how about the scene when they were younger and on the beach?! HOW ABOUT THE WHOLE MOVIE?!
