Gallium's Low Melting Point Allows You To Melt It With Your Hands

SHARE
Many of us had a pretty elaborate rock collection as children. The Earth is home to thousands upon thousands of different rocks, crystals, and metals that are some of the best eye candy anyone could ever take in. Gallium, a metal used primarily in electronics, is beautifully radiant and has some pretty remarkable qualities.

Did you know that you can safely melt a piece of solid gallium in your hand? These images are incredible...

In its solid form, Gallium is quite remarkable.

Gallium is a metal that doesn't exist naturally, and can only be created through smelting.

It's used mostly in semiconductors but is also found in Blu-ray players and other electronics using laser technology.

There is one amazing thing about gallium, though.

It has a melting point of roughly 85 degrees Fahrenheit, meaning you can melt the stuff in the palm of your hand!

As you can see here, a person can safely melt gallium and manipulate it easily.

What's better than a GIF? You have to see these videos of a man manipulating gallium in his hands on the next page...

Is your mind blown as much as this guy?

Gallium does some other cool stuff, too. Check out the next video.

In case youère interested, here is a cool video of gallium slowing breaking down an aluminum can.

Just for some high-resolution eye candy, here is another shot.
