10-Year-Old Girl Builds Herself Glitter-Shooting Prosthetic Arm

SHARE
Every time you hear about kids on social media these days, you kind of expect the worst, don't you? Like, you have to think that they've run up a huge cell phone bill for their parents or started cyberbullying someone or they're just wasting their lives searching for the perfect selfies. Surely there's too much of that, but it's not all so bad. In fact, when you hear about kids like Jordan Reeves, you might start thinking that the future is actually brighter than you expected.

Like so many 10-year-olds, Jordan Reeves loves unicorns and glitter. She just does something different with her love.

Jordan was born with one full arm – her left arm ends just above the elbow joint. Her mother has been searching for the right prosthetic for years, but has had little luck, especially considering Jordan is still growing.

But Jordan has taken a healthy interest in coming up with her own solutions and has even designed some prosthetics of her own.

She was one of six kids invited to a Superhero Cyborg program put on by nonprofit KidMob, where the kids got to play around with Autodesk to 3D print some designs for themselves.

No surprise, Jordan's love of unicorns and glitter played a central role in her design.

She built a prosthetic she can load up with sparkles, slip over her arm, and pull a string to launch the glitter.

She calls it Project Unicorn, and since the KidMob event, she has worked with a mentor to refine and improve her designs. Talk about an inspiration!
