10 Smart Laundry Hacks To Simplify Laundry Day

SHARE
Laundry is a household chore that we all have to do, and the reality is that it never ends! No matter how long you put it off, at some point, you have to drag your overflowing hamper to the laundry room and accept your fate that the weekend is going to be filled with detergent and dryer sheets. It's not so much the washing and drying of clothes that sucks; it's the folding and putting away that really does some people in. Hopefully, some of these handy hacks will ease the pain of your next load of laundry and make the process a bit easier to endure!

Never Lose Socks Again

Anyone who has done laundry knows what it's like to lose random socks in the process. It's an unexplainable phenomena that has haunted laundry-doers for decades, and, until now, I thought there was no reasonable solution to this problem. Find a sealable mesh bag and attach it to your laundry hamper with clothespins. Whenever you need to wash a pair of dirty socks, simply toss them into the bag and seal it before placing in your washing machine. When the time comes to put everything away, you'll be able to pair up your socks with ease!

Make A Rolling Hamper

Sometimes we have to multi-task, and if a hamper is too heavy or awkward to carry, it can be a real pain trying to get it to the laundry room while carrying other things, like small children! A simple solution to this issue is gluing wheely toys to the bottom of your hamper and pushing it wherever you need to go!

Easy Reminders

We've all thrown something into the dryer that was supposed to air dry. Sometimes, the result is devastating and you end up ruining your favorite garment. Well, with this awesome tip, you'll never forget to leave something out of the dryer again! Simply use dry-erase markers to leave notes for yourself when you start your washing machine. When you come back to throw everything in the dryer, you'll have a handy reminder of what needs to head to the drying rack.

Style Your Laundry Room

A great way to give your laundry room a fresh, modern look — and to keep harmful products out of children's reach — is to install wall dispensers for your detergents and other cleaning products!

Create Storage

Another way to make your laundry room feel more stylish and welcoming is to create alternative storage options with things like coat hooks and towel bars. Finish your walls off with cute pieces of decor and modern finishes!

Get Rid Of Sweaty Odors

The last thing you want is for your hampers to emit a funky smell. Any articles of clothing that are covered in sweat and grime should be hung on towel bars or laundry racks before being placed in the washing machine. This will prevent mildew growth and bad odors from filling your laundry room.

Speed Up Drying Times

This is a trick that I am definitely trying for my next load of laundry! To make your clothes dry faster, throw a big, clean towel into the mix for the first 15 minutes of the cycle. It will absorb a lot of the moisture from your clothing, which will make your dryer's job much easier and faster to accomplish!

Dryer Sheet Alternative

If you find yourself short of dryer sheets, ball up a piece of tinfoil and put it in your dryer. It gets rid of static cling and can be used for up to 6 months!

Pool Noodle Hack

This is another great hack that I think I will be benefiting from in the very near future. To avoid unwanted creases in clothes you have drying on a rack, slip clean pool noodles over the bars to create a smooth, rounded surface.

Fold Clothes Like A Pro

Last, but certainly not least, if you want your closet or dresser to look like a million bucks, make your very own folding apparatus out of cardboard. Before you know it, you'll be folding your shirts into perfect stacks that will make any retail worker smile.
