Ronda Rousey has had a roller coaster ride of a life.
She had a rough childhood, she was an Olympian, she was painfully poor, rose to the TOP of the UFC, lost everything and then came back up.Rousey was the first woman to show her face in the UFC which was DOMINATED by dudes.
But there's a bunch of stuff you had no idea about her, but if you did I'm sure you'll let me know...
1. She called out boxing champion Floyd "money" Mayweather.
Rightafter she won the ESPY for Best Fighter she clapped at Mayweather: "I can't help but really say that I wonder how Floyd feels being beat by a woman for once. I'd like to see you pretend to not know who I am now."
2. She was online moderator on Pokémon message boards back in in her teen days.
She was also CRAZY about the trading card game and has beat all the video games that have come out.
3. She ended up in the ER for shoving Raisinette candies up her nose.
“This was the scene: Ronda and her two older sisters, Jennifer and I, had been making silly faces that involved putting candy in our nostrils — because hey, that’s the kind of stupid stuff small children find hilarious,” Burns Ortiz wrote," is what her sister said. But the heat from her nose melted the chocolate and it slipped in there!
4. She was a swimsuit model for Sports Illustrated.
Female fighters rarely made it into the magazine for its swimsuit edition – but there she was in 2015's edition.
5. Her face was on the MMA video game UFC 2.
She said, "It's surreal to see myself on the cover. For a woman to be on the cover of a UFC video game, it shows a lot of progress."
6. She fought The Rock at WrestleMania 31.
The Rock grabbed Rousey from the stands and dragged her into the ring. The crowd went nuts and chanted her name.
7. She lived out of her car for while..
Despite doing well in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, she struggled to find a steady job and she had to save up money for rent. So she lived out of her 2005 Honda Accord LX for a matter of days rather than weeks, she said. When her family sold the car it sold for $21,300.
8. She'll ghost you and leave nothing left in World of Warcraft.
Before Ronda’s fight with Cat Zingano at UFC 184 – the one that she finished in 14 seconds – they were filming promo videos at her house, and she was sitting at her computer playing World of Warcraft.
9. Her mom kicked just as much butt as she did.
Rousey's mom, AnnMaria De Mars, won a gold medal at the 1984 World Championships of Judo.
10. Her mom used to wake her up in the middle of the night, get her in a hold and not let her go until Rousey slipped out or tapped out.
Her mom was trying to teach her judo techniques...
11. She's pure muscle now but there was a time when she ate ONCE a day.
She'd wake up and immediately start training until the end of the day when she'd eat a MASSIVE supper at the end of the day. But she doesn't do the crazy diet anymore because she learned that she didn't need to be physically hungry to train harder.
12. She's gotten in trouble for shooting off her mouth but she couldn't speak until she was six years old.
Her umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck at birth, cutting off oxygen to her brain which gave her a learning disability and made learning language difficult.
13. She was CRUSHING on Vegeta from Dragonball Z.
She was obsessed with the show and said, “Vegeta is where it’s at. He was my cartoon crush. I would’ve gone cartoon for him. I would.”
14. She only went nude for ESPN's Body Issue because a pervert ex-boyfriend had secretly taken naked pics of her and she wanted to get back control. He forced her hand.
She said her ex-boyfriend "Snappers McCreepy" had a bunch of nudes on his hard drive. "You know when you’re just comfortably naked around somebody… I just thought that he was on his phone texting people... If there’s naked pictures out there, I’m going to go take naked pictures myself and I’m going to put it out there on my terms."
15. She had an eating disorder and avoided taking showers because she would fall over from the water... fortunately she's recovered from it.
It started with her trying to make weight for Judo competitions. “I used to associate feeling full with guilt,” she said. “Because there was no advice or help if you didn’t make weight—they just yelled at you.”
