All-Pro NFLer Raises Funds For Special Olympians Because He's A Former Special Olympian Too

The good guys out there remember their roots. They know where they came from and don't forget it. And they know there are plenty of people out there in the same situation they came from. Jamaal Charles is one of those guys. Even though he's a big success – only the all-time leader in average rushing yards, ahead of guys like Jim Brown and Barry Sanders – he makes sure to find time for Special Olympians. He knows all about the experience because, once upon a time, he was a Special Olympian.

He's better known for running roughshod over NFL defenses, but Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles has a heart of gold.

And when it comes to the Special Olympics, it's a cause close to his golden heart. When he was 10 years old, Jamaal competed in the Special Olympics after being diagnosed with a learning disability.

Now, as an All-Pro NFL running back, Jamaal is a staunch supporter of the Special Olympics, often appearing at events and meeting with the Olympians themselves.

He serves as a global ambassador for the Special Olympics organization, but he's more than just a figurehead. He's involved.

When the US snowshoeing team needed funds to get to the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Austria, Jamaal started up a GoFundMe page and kicked off the campaign himself.

The goal was to raise $15,000 for the team's expenses on the trip.

It's just one of many ways he tries to give back to the organization that helped him realize his dreams.

He knows the athletes that compete at the Special Olympics have dreams too, and he wants to help them achieve their goals.

Would you help Jamaal support Special Olympians?
