12 Things That Have Been Taken Apart

SHARE
Did you ever go through a phase when you had to take things apart to see how they worked? I distinctly remember disassembling one of my Transformers toys when I was a kid because it was cool and I wanted to find out how it transformed. I also distinctly remember how it never worked right again after that. The leftover parts when it was all re-assembled probably played an important role. But hey, it's all about learning, right?

Author and photographer Todd McLellan never grew out of that phase. He has a passion for finding out what's inside things. And he goes to great pains to lay them out neatly before photographing the array. They're beautiful pictures that show off all the engineering that goes into normal, daily objects. Check some of them out!

1. Push Lawnmower

Wonder if he removed the rust when the photo session was done.

2. Typewriter

Wow, no wonder they were so heavy!

3. Flip Clock

I kinda miss these.

4. Fire Extinguisher

Funny, I never thought of fire retardant as being a yellow powder.

5. Macintosh Computer

Hope he was careful with it – it looks like a Classic.

6. Snowblower

I hope he took this apart in summer.

7. Telephone

Does anybody still have one of these?

8. Wind-Up Clock

What a beauty!

9. Chainsaw

Is Homelite a good brand?

10. Digital Camera

Was not expecting that many screens.

11. Mouse

I think he might have voided the warranty.

12. Accordion

If he can put this back together and it still works, he deserves a medal.
