SHARE
Pasta is a staple in everyone's life! It was for me...all throughout university. It's easy to make and absolutely delicious. But it might not be as simple as we all thought! For me, it was just going to the store and choosing the pasta and sauce that I liked without giving it a second thought. If you're like me, it turns out we've been doing it wrong this entire time! There are specific sauces that go with each type of pasta. But, don't worry. We've got you covered with all the right information. After this, you'll be ready for the next pasta night!

SHAREif pasta is your go-to dish to make!

The pasta aisle can be intimidating for sure! It just seems like there's an endless selection!

And the sauces too! Too many to choose from. So we all just grab what we know is good and be done with it!

Here's the lowdown on everything you need to know about pasta and the sauces that go with them.

1. For filled pasta (tortellini, ravioli), you need a very light sauce. It's just a light butter or oil sauce!

Sometimes all you need is just some olive oil to go with your pasta!

2. If you love linguine, angel hair, vermicelli and spaghetti, you should pair the pasta with tomato, cream or oil sauce. Another option would be seafood sauces.

All those options sound amazing. I would like to try all of those now.

3. If you love tube pasta like I do (penne, rigatoni, macaroni, ziti), then you need to pair it with a ragu, Bolognese or a vegetable sauce. It works well as baked pasta!

4. If you love pasta with twists (rotini, fusilli), then you definitely need to pair it with a lighter and smoother sauce, such as pesto.

Fusilli with pesto sauce? Delicious!

5. For the pasta that's mini (orzo, tripolini), it's best paired with olive oil or wine sauces in a cold salad. Or there's the option of using the pasta in a soup or stew. There's just so many possibilities with mini pasta!

6. Now, if you're more a shell pasta person, you have to pair it with a heavy cream sauce or meat sauces.

If you have medium shells, they go best in a pasta salad. And for small shells, try it as mac & cheese!

7. There IS a pasta that will go well with any sauce. It's farfalle aka bow tie pasta!

And let's be real, it IS the cutest pasta out there. The fact that it goes well with any sauce is great!

8. Fettuccine, lasagna and other long ribbon pastas are supposed to go with rich meat and cream sauces.

Now you're all equipped to go to the pasta aisle and choose the pasta you like with the sauce that goes best with it. Have fun making pasta the right way now!
