Two Hospital Workers Helped A Man Heal After He Was Born With Deformities

SHARE
There are two kinds of people in this world: people who run away from a challenge and people who run directly into it.

The latter type of people are the ones who quickly become heroes.

Like this husband/wife team who saved baby Adam.

This is their story of triumph.

When Adam was born at the Burrows Memorial Christian Hospital in India, his birth parents refused to take him home.

Why? He was born with a healthy brain, heart, and lungs...but on the outside, he looked very different.

Adam was born with superficial deformities.

He had no eyelids, no nose, no hands, and his legs were fused together.

His parents were adamant he wouldn't be going home with them.

If the hospital forced them to take him home, they said they'd kill him. They didn't want Adam at all.

This husband/wife team was working at the same hospital Adam was born at, and they couldn't stand the idea of him being abandoned.

They decided to make Adam their own. And then...

The couple found help from Christian doctors in America.

They began a treatment plan with an experienced plastic surgeon.

A year and a half later, little Adam's smiling and laughing.

He's happy with his family and continuing to progress.

He crawls everywhere.

And he even has a brother now!

Despite Adam's incredible progress, he still can't eat on his own. He can't talk either.

After all, he was born without the roof of his mouth.

His parents say he definitely wants to communicate though.

In order for that to happen, he'll need his palate repaired.

He was supposed to have his palate repaired earlier in the year, but the couple didn't quite have enough funds to cover the costs.

Adam is technically a citizen of India, so even insurance couldn't help here. They had to postpone the surgery.

Adam's parents have had to ask for help. The surgery runs around $150,000.

They raised close to $100,000 in just one week. And next year, Adam will be eligible to become an American citizen. Then, he can try to get health insurance. That means he might be able to get help for future treatments.

Little Adam is a healthy boy in great hands.

You can watch his story here.
