1. Reese Witherspoon is very proud of the project. She said it's better than a lot of other projects she's been in!
“I say episode six is better than most movies I’ve been in."
2. All the women in the cast completely bonded. Reese and Laura Dern even vacationed together after the show was over!
“I’m at the stage in my life when I want to work with people that I really like,” Nicole Kidman said. “This is the perfect combination.”
3. Even though it was a miniseries, the director decided to film it just like a movie.
They would only film four pages of the script a day!
4. The project reunites Nicole and Zoë Kravitz. Nicole used to be engaged to Lenny Kravitz, Zoë's dad!
"Well, I knew Zoe because I was engaged to her father," Kidman says bluntly. "It's all in the family!"
5. The makeup artist on set was very deliberate with Shailene Woodley's look. She would add makeup onto Shailene that would make her look "more pale, sad and darker under the eyes."
"She has no money or time to get her makeup ready or pay attention to it. My job for the character was actually to make her look not good. I had to enhance her tiredness, sadness and anger."
6. Nicole said shooting the domestic violence scenes took a toll on her.
"I would go home ... and I would cry."
It was tough, but she got through it! She was committed to keeping the scenes very authentic.
"It was really tough and I wanted it to be as authentic and as real as it could be."
7. The miniseries is based on a book by Liane Moriarty.
8. The book was set in Australia, but the story moved to the States when the show was filmed. The only Australian tie that the show still had was Nicole!
Too bad Nicole never got to use her Australian accent on the show.
9. Adam Scott was the one who insisted that his character have a beard.
He looks so different from his Parks and Recreationcharacter!
10. HBO won a bidding war with Netflix to air the show!
11. After the huge success of Big Little Lies, Nicole and Reese are teaming up again to adapt one of Liane's books, Truly Madly Guilty.
THAT'S SO EXCITING!
12. SPOILER: The show did end with the camera acting as the point of view of a very mysterious character. The ending was left open-ended, so could there be a season two? Reese said she would love to come back!
