Inside The Secret Celeb Restaurant People Didn't Know Existed

SHARE
The celebrity world is just so interesting. I love learning about what really goes on behind the scenes when it comes to filming movies, attending events, and getting ready for a red carpet appearance, as well as the politics behind getting movies made. But nothing is more fascinating to me than the idea of secret places and clubs that only the rich and famous can go to. Disneyland has Club 33 and Paris has a restaurant called Davé.

On the outside, the restaurant looks like it's abandoned or it's seen better days. But on the inside? Nobody would ever know that Davé has seen the most famous models, actors and directors from all over the world. It's become a place where celebs can go for a fun time away from the glitz and glamour of Fashion Week and the presence of paparazzi.

The stars of today and yesterday continue to flock to the restaurant. But what makes it so special? It's all down to the owner, Dave.

At 12 Rue de Richelieu, you would never know that a restaurant stands there. The sign is small, the name is simple, and it's rather dark inside. Dave Cheung, the owner, said it's all done on purpose. And that's exactly what appeals to these A-list celebs.

"It's not a pretentious place. I try to treat my customers like friends and I keep my restaurant very clean, and I serve Chinese food without the usual heavy sauce and oil of other places. Maybe this is why everyone comes here when they are in Paris."

It became a hub for celebrities because Dave was adamant in the power of word of mouth. He says he chalks this up to being outgoing and having the desire to meet people.

On the inside, the decor is unbelievable. The walls are lined with photos of Dave and the famous people who have dined there.

Simplicity and good food aren't the only things that attract celebs to this establishment. According to Dave, it's because the restaurant is a safe place for them. He treats them as normal people and not as huge stars.

"People say it's not easy serving celebrities but I believe the key is to try and not make them feel like celebrities, like they are different."

With his success, Dave has managed to remain true to who he is. He isn't interested in expanding and wants to keep his restaurant just the way it is.

So, if you find yourself in Paris, stop by Davé to feel what it's like to be in the presence of famous people. Take your time admiring the Polaroids. Oh, and the food's good too.
