Couple Adopts 'Saddest Cat' In The World And He Transformed In Just One Hour

Sometimes there is just no reason to smile. No matter how hard you try, you can’t find the strength in yourself. Animals experience this too —  especially when they have been beaten down and were never shown love. A cat was found with every reason to be sad and he was nicknamed the "saddest cat" in the world. But then he was given every reason to smile when someone with so much love to give helped him transform into the kitty he was always meant to be. It may be hard to smile sometimes, but being loved is always a good reason.

BenBen was found as a stray and taken to an animal shelter.

The poor kitty had a crushed spine, several deep lacerations, and a cauliflower ear.

It’s believed that he was attacked by an animal while out in the world.

He also has excess skin on his face, giving him such a sad look.

He was deemed un-adoptable after a foster family returned him to the shelter due to his medical needs.

The vet said he’d never walk again and would have to be on pain meds the rest for his life.

He was scheduled to be put down.

At the last minute, a woman who works for the vet clinic swooped in.

"We managed to get everything sorted out the day before his scheduled euthanization and brought him to his forever home."

At the shelter, BenBen wouldn't eat or drink. "Almost as if he knew he was going to die and had just given up hope."

But when he got to his new home, everything changed.

Within an hour, he was purring, smiling, and cuddling. "I like to think he knew he was safe and had his forever home at that moment."

"It only took about an hour for him to start getting curious about his surroundings."

BenBen is curious and always checking out what his owners are up to — especially when they’re eating.

And as for the vets saying he’d never walk again...

Not only is he walking again, he's also running.

"He's doing so well! No one who knew him before can believe he's turned out so awesome."

BenBen has been with his new family for nine months now and he has gone from the saddest cat to the happiest.

"We're so proud of this little monster."
