11 Things About 'Westworld' That Remind You That Robot Love Technically Isn't Illegal

Every time people talk about breaking the internet I roll my eyes.

But you shouldn't do it today. There's a new show called Westworldand if you're saying "Hey, that's a movie!" then shut up, because I've never seen that. I'm talking about the show on HBO.

And that means sex, swearing and lots of emotional scarring. Classic HBO.

The show is kinda complicated so I'll try and catch you up...

1. It's based on a book by the dude who wrote the Jurassic Park book.

But in that case the book was more closely related to the plot of the movie Jurassic Park AKA the amusement park gone wrong.

2. You're going to hear modern songs played through the saloon's piano like "Paint it Black" by the Rolling Stones or songs by Radiohead.

"The show has an anachronistic feel to it," the composer for the show explained to Vulture. "It's a Western theme park, and yet it has robots in it, so why not have modern songs? And that's a metaphor in itself, wrapped up in the overall theme of the show."

3.  The show takes place in the future where an amusement park is filled with androids pretending to be in a Western and guests pay money to role play in it.

The Western setting is populated by androids who can't hurt the guests and they help people act out their DEPRAVED fantasies...  Some of them get BRUTALLY wrecked by the guests.

4. There's a tension you feel trying to figure out who's real and who's an android...

But there is one clue that'll give you a heads up but you have to look for it....

5. Quentin Tarantino was supposed to direct but he said "nah."

Imagine how CRAZY that might have been. But he did just do The Hateful Eightand Django Unchained– both pretty much Westerns.

Yikes...

6. Ed Harris has been in an alternate reality project like this... The Truman Show with Jim Carrey.

In the movie, everyone is real and are in on the fact that they're on a reality show – except for Truman himself.

7. It's being hailed as "The New Game of Thrones". Which isn't far from the truth since the show hopes to do the same thing for Sci-Fi as Game of Thronesdid for fantasy.

The reviews are all raving about it.

That's actually REALLY cool...

8. The whole first season had a budget of (wait for it)... $100 million.

AKA a really small loan to help you get your real estate company off the ground.

9. When the life-like androids are being made from that goopy 3D printer thing it's an homage to Leonardo Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man.

Whoa... I might have to start paying for HBO.

10. There's a nod to Romeand Game Of Thrones (both HBO shows) in Westworldwhen we hear that there are other amusement parks based on the Roman world and the medieval world.

11. Actress Evan Rachel Wood read about the singularity which is the idea that one day SOON human and machine consciousnesses will be indistinguishable.

Futurist Ray Kurzweil says we should start preparing for it in our lifetime...

CHECK OUT THE SHOW!
