There's a good chance you woke up only a short time before reading this, so you can probably remember the first thing you did. Before you checked your phone or hopped in the shower, you probably rubbed some unpleasant gunk out of your eyes.

This stuff goes by many names from sleep to eye boogers. Whatever you call it, it's just one of life's little nuisances. And sometimes it can have a nasty habit of sticking around. Even when you think you've got it all out, a little flake can wait until well into your day to fall in your eye.

But while you're wrestling with an irritated eye and trying to remove this stuff, you may wonder just what it is in the first place?

Well, the answer to pretty much all your eye goop-related questions can be found in the full video.

As you watch the video, you'll hear about the lovely little cocktail of leftovers that make this crusty crap and why it only seems to appear when you're sleeping. But you may have noticed it seems to change depending on how you're feeling. It can often be hard and crusty, but it's usually a bit different when you get a cold or when your allergies start acting up.

Not only is it more wet and goopy, but there seems to be a lot more of it. What kind of eye sleep you'll get depends on how much water inside your eye boogers has evaporated. Yet, there's another reason it builds up so much when you're under the weather. When you're feeling this way, you rub your eyes more, which produces more mucus to try to keep them from getting dried out and irritated.

As the full video will tell you, eye boogers aren't usually anything to worry about. If it seems particularly yellow or even green, it's probably a sign of a bacterial infection. Often, this kind of infection can take the form of pink-eye, where the thin membrane around the whites of your eyes gets inflamed.

But if that's not happening you should be good to go. Remember to check out the video for a great rundown on your gound.

Don't forget to COMMENT and tell us how bad your eye sleep has gotten.
