Mom Adds Birthmark To Doll So That Her Daughter Has A Toy That Looks Like Her

It's hard to be a kid on a good day, and can be even harder if something about you is "different." Besides the possibility of bullying, it can be nearly impossible to find toys or other pop culture icons that reflect your life experience. Which is why I love how mom Jesica Bird found a quick and creative way to make sure that her six-year-old daughter had a doll that looked just like her.

Navaeh was born with abnormally wide blood vessels in her face, resulting in a large red birthmark on her left cheek.

According to her mom, people would mistake it for a burn or bruise, resulting in a lot of questions, but Navaeh is learning to take it in stride.

The doll with big brown eyes and brown hair was a gift from Navaeh's grandmother, but even though it resembled her a lot, the girl said something was missing.

Navaeh wanted it to have a birthmark, too.

When her mom realized she could easily add one, Navaeh was excited! Jesica found a tube of dark red lipstick and drew the birthmark onto the doll with it.

The lipstick left a bright stain after she wiped away the excess, and it just took a layer of clear nail polish to protect it.

She said, "It literally took me 20 minutes." Navaeh loves the doll, too, showing it off to all of her friends.

"She looks at it and sees how pretty the doll is, and sees how pretty she is."

It's so great that she's got a toy she can relate to now! SHAREthis story with all your friends and family!
