This 28-Pound NYC Cat Rivals The Size Of A Bobcat

Ever since I was a little girl, I loved big cats. My first pet was a Tabby named Tigger who came to us as an adult with an attitude. I loved that cat. I'd read to him, write little stories about him, and cuddle him every chance I had. As a pretty quiet little kid, this grumpy cat soon became my best friend. The coolest part is that because I was so small, I thought this cat was actually a lot larger than he was. He was an average Tabby with a tummy.

This cat on the other hand is anything but average. In fact, he's been deemed the largest cat in NYC, and maybe even the whole world!

This is Samson! He's a Maine Coon who's made quite the reputation for himself.

Wonder what all the fuss is about? Well, look at him!

This is one big cat. How big? Twenty-eight pounds big!

Samson is now four years old and rivals a bobcat in size!

"He’s not a fat cat. This one is a strong cat that’s not overweight," Samson's owner said.

"He’s just a big cat." He's really long too: This cat measures in at four feet long!

For anyone out there wondering, male Maine Coons weigh an average of 15-25 pounds while females average between 10-15 pounds.

This is one smart (and comfy) cat.

So how did Samson end up with his human? Well, Samson was originally being taken care of by his new owner's brother.

Due to his work schedule, he felt he couldn't give this cat the love he really needed and deserved.

Jonathan Zurbel agreed to watch the cat, who he'd never seen before, and their bond was instant.

He inherited the cat almost immediately after meeting him.

Vet after vet in NYC have told Zurbel they've never seen a cat this big.
