On April 14, 1912, just days after setting off on its way to New York, the RMS Titanic collided with an iceberg that would send her, and more than 1500 passengers and crew members, to the bottom of the sea. It remains one of the worst peacetime maritime disasters in modern history. At the time, it was the largest ship in service, and on its maiden voyage, it carried some of the wealthiest people in the world. Despite having many advanced safety features, it lacked the proper amount of lifeboats needed to accommodate all the passengers on board.

More than 100 years later, the sinking of the Titanic remains one of the most intriguing historical tragedies to have ever occurred. People of all ages are still fascinated by the lore that surrounds its ultimate demise. Several films, books, and documentaries have attempted to illustrate exactly what happened to the Titanic, its crew, and those unfortunate passengers on that terrible night. However, none of them have ever truly captured the terrifying events.

While many of the details from before and after the sinking are recorded in pictures and documents, the details surrounding the collision and the moments following come from mostly first-hand accounts and evidence gathered after the fact. So it's no wonder that people are still incredibly interested in that night.

Well, you'll be glad to know that there is now a video that depicts the sinking of the Titanic in real time. The folks at Vintage Digital Revival have created a virtual re-creation, as well as a game and other interactive media, that shows just what it would have been like to actually experience the sinking first-hand. For anyone who has a continued interest in that ill-fated evening, this is a chance to explore the events in detail and immerse yourself in the night the Titanic went down.

After watching the video above, hopefully you'll have a better understanding of what occurred. Don't forget toSHARE this with other history buffs and COMMENT to let us know what you thought. Enjoy!
