Here's the thing, though: I have a lot of ideas and not a lot of time. I want to be the person who spends every weekend on a new DIY project, but instead, I'm typically writing away, running around with errands, and watching terrible reality TV.
Don't judge. I have all the best intentions, I swear. I have a whole Pinterest profile dedicated to the things I will, one day, do...but right now? The only things making the DIY list that I know for sure I'll take on and complete are the smaller projects. You know, they're the little tweaks to already awesome things that take your decor to the next level.
They're the things you can accomplish without clearing your entire social schedule. They're the things that make guests think you're a total DIY boss, even if you're the furthest thing from it.
Here are 15 small DIYs to try sooner than later. SHARE with all your friends!
1. Makeover your whole room by simply upcycling some old shutters like so:
The trickiest part is actually finding the shutters. Seriously, it's that easy: just secure the shutters to the wall, push your bed back into place, and you're golden.
2. Give some serious style to old chairs by "dipping" the legs in cool paint colors.
This is one of my favorites because it's such a simple fix that makes a big difference. Look at that color pop!
3. DIY your own funky wall art in an afternoon.
This way, you get exactly what you want and have fun at the same time!
4. Change the look of your whole living room with just a sharpie and a ruler.
No paint, no mess = yes!
5. Add some flair to your walls without breaking the bank.
These beautiful wall decor pieces can cost quite a lot in store. Making your own is as easy as gluing wood pieces together...for real.
6. If you're short on time and money but have a big wall in the bathroom to fill, this DIY was made for you.
Alternatively, you could also fill this with rolled up washcloths or add shelves across to display your toiletries.
7. Transform basic folding chairs into epic decor pieces.
Doesn't this look adorable? Best part: it's not even hard.
8. Add a naturally chic vibe to the bedroom or bathroom by screwing funky handles into driftwood and securing to the wall.
Depending on how much empty space you have, you can zig-zag these along the wall for a more dramatic effect. Hang jewelry, keys, your cutest dresses, whatever!
9. Create some simple lighting solutions with mason jars, yarn, and paint.
These look cute and classy, but without the cost attached. Super simple to make, these gems will light up the room with stylish DIY decor.
10. Upcycle yourself some stylish shelving out of old crates and gift wrap.
This is such a simple way to add your own unique touch to the walls without going all out.
11. Revamp a basic mirror with just trim and moulding. Optional: adding the shelving unit by securing it to the wall above the mirror.
Before, it was just a plain old mirror, but now? It sets the whole tone of the washroom.
12. Change the look of your bathroom by simply painting your faucet a bold color.
It really is that simple. All you really need is some tape and good quality metallic paint.
13. Totally transform and old dresser into something so much more with just wallpaper and glue.
What was once a boring wooden dresser with scratches has now become a statement piece. Just like that.
14. Create your own classy carpet without the cost, using just a stencil and some paint.
When working with large rugs, you can literally save hundreds here. Plus, it's fun and easy! Bonus.
15. Make your kitchen uniquely yours by DIYing this menu board.
It sets the stage for many great meals with great guests!
