15 Behind-The-Scenes Tidbits From Britney Spears' Classic Roadtrip Movie 'Crossroads'

SHARE
Oh, Crossroads. Let's talk about this for a minute. It's the movie that people loved to hate. But we were SO obsessed with Britney back then, we could not care less that the movie wasn't of five-star quality. But let's also be real for a second... aren't cheesy movies like this the best kind? It was funny, it had dancing and singing, and admit it... you totally watched this more than once, didn't you?

Well, here are some interesting things about the movie that you would never have known if not for this article. I'll leave you to perform "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" on your own while you read this...

1. Anson Mount said he had an IMMEDIATE physical attraction to Britney.

Obviously. It's Britney.

2. Britney was not okay with the amount of swear words in the script, and asked for a number to be removed.

Keeping her fans in mind, always. Amazing.

3. Anson threw up after that diner scene.

You know the one.

4. Remember at the campsite when Lucy read that poem to Ben?

Those are the lyrics to Britney's "Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman."

5. When the girls sing "Bye, Bye, Bye" it's a wink and a nod to the fact that Britney was dating Justin Timberlake at the time.

6. Speaking of, Britney was asked to doodle in between breaks like she was Lucy.

She ended up putting Justin's name in hearts with butterflies all over the notebook. Talk about adorable.

7. Britney only had two requests throughout all of filming: tuna Lunchables and edamame.

I LOVE that she's not a diva.

8. She also went to Starbucks to get her own coffee every morning before filming.

Why? Because she loved the freedom.

9. There was some specific product placement in the movie based on the brands Britney endorses.

Like when Lucy gets out of the shower, Herbal Essences is totally visible. And Pepsi was EVERYWHERE throughout the movie.

10. Britney, Zoe and Taryn actually became super close while filming!

11. The original title for the movie was What Friends Are For.

I like Crossroadsso much better.

12. Britney's sister Jamie Lynn Spears plays the young Lucy at the beginning of the movie.

13. Anson didn't want to play Ben at first. He originally thought the movie was too cheesy. It ended up being Robert De Niro who convinced him to do it.

I bet Anson's glad that he did!

14. They wanted the chemistry right, so Britney was involved in the casting for Ben.

This meant a LOT of kissing on Britney's part. Niiiiice.

15. The reason De Niro convinced Anson to play the part?

De Niro is actually a BIG Britney fan. Good taste!
