5 Craziest Records Held For Competitive Eating

SHARE
The U.S. loves their competitive food eating. Freedom grants us a lot of amazing things here in America, including being able to stuff our bodies full of dozens of Ball Park Franks.

The most famous forum for competitive eating is most likely the Nathan's Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest held every year. You're going to hear about this contest quite a bit in this article, but that's not the only food eating competition out there. In fact, there is an organization called Major League Eating that oversees tons of different professional eating competitions around the world. There are contests out there specifically for cupcake eating, whole-turkey eating, hard-boiled egg eating, and even kale eating.

You have to see some of these professional eaters and their most notable feats.

SHARE this article with your Facebook friends who think they eat the most out of anyone you know. They will be quickly humbled.

People take their food competitions very seriously.

Somehow, these people can fit endless amounts of food into their stomachs.

Let's take a look at some of the impressive eaters and the records they're known for.

1. Our first record comes from Richard 'The Locust' LeFavre (jalapenos).

This badass individual can really stuff 'em back. At 72 years-old, he's giving the younger competitive eaters a run for their money.

'The Locust' recently ate 247 jalapeno peppers in eight minutes. This is his most impressive record to date.

This retired CPA has some other accomplishments under his belt, too. He's successfully eaten five pounds of birthday cake in eleven minutes, six pounds of SPAM (at the 2004 SPAMARAMA, by the way) in twelve minutes, and almost eight pounds of Huevos Rancheros in ten minutes.

2. The next record comes from professional eater Patrick Bertoletti (pizza).

His Major League Eating profile says that he started off as a sweet specialist, but has moved on to embrace just about every competitive food event.

One of Patrick's most notable records is stuffing down 47 slices from Big Apple Pizza in ten minutes.

Since then, he's ate 72 cupcakes in six minutes at the Isle Waterloo World Cupcake Eating Championship and almost ten pounds of Blueberry pie (hands-free) in eight minutes.

3. Joey "Jaws" Chestnut (hotdogs).

He may be one of the most recognizable competitive eaters in the world.

Joey just happened to win this year's Nathan's Hotdog Eating Competition.

He downed 70 hot dogs (with the buns) in ten minutes. The closest competitor behind him ate 41.

I love this guy's reaction to Joey's most recent feat.

"Jaws" is truly living up to his nickname. His other insane food records include eating 70 Hillshire Farm brats in ten minutes, 141 hard-boiled eggs in eight minutes (gag), and a nine-and-a-half-pound turkey in ten minutes.

4. Meet Matt "The Megatoid" Stonie (bacon).

This is the man that upset Joey Chestnut in the 2014 Nathan's Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest. This isn't the only thing he's known for, though. What makes this accomplishment even more impressive is the fact that he is only 130 pounds with a 28-inch waist. Say what!?

Here is some footage from the famous battle between Matt and Joey.

Since becoming a professional competitive eater at 19, he has amassed quite the record sheet.

In 2015, Matt ate 182 strips of Smithfield bacon in five minutes. I bet his heart just loves him for that one.

Along with this incredible meal, he's also known for downing 69 moon pies in eight minutes at the 2015 Bass Pro Shops World Moon Pie Eating Championship. You would think from this picture that he would hold a record in spaghetti eating, but maybe next year.

On the next page is a video of Matt Stonie eating an enormous ice cream sundae.

Here is Matt Stonietaking the 11,000 calorie ice cream sundae challenge.

5. Last but not least is Sonia "The Black Widow" Thomas (Big Daddy burger).

If you saw Sonia on the street, your first guess wouldn't be that she does competitive power eating. She is a top performer, though.

Weighing in at a mere 105 pounds, "The Black Widow" has challenged some of the top eaters already mentioned in this list.

One of her most impressive feats is pictured here. Conquering the nine-pound Big Daddy Burger at The Plaza in Las Vegas in just 27 minutes.

Sonia has a sweet tooth too. She's ate 11 pounds of cheesecake in nine minutes. Insane!

SHARE this insane list with your Facebook friends who think they can eat as much as these food warriors.
