Don't worry though. I've got you covered with a bunch of cheap and easy decorations that only require a trip to the dollar store. Just one or two of these could be what's needed to prevent the dreaded "Raisin House" rumor. If you make any of these, be sure to come back and share them in the COMMENTS!
1. A creepy-crawly welcome.
By raiding the toy section for rubber snakes, you can easily add a spooky element to your front step.
2. Glitter pumpkin!
Depending on your feelings about glitter's ability to get... everywhere, this may be the perfect decoration. Just glob the glue onto a plastic pumpkin and go mad with the Halloween-themed glitter.
3. Make the candles bleed.
This icky effect is achieved simply by dripping wax from a red candle onto a white one. Crafty made some especially eerie candles LIVE with barbed wire and nails (at the16:00 mark), and they offer some pro tips.
4. Seasonal signs.
The great thing about these simple signs made from cheap photo frames is that you can change them up to match every holiday.
5. Use paper bags and plates to make your front door monstrous!
6. Add faces to electric tealights.
Ping pong balls just need a hole cut into the bottom so they'll fit over the lights. Then use a Sharpie to draw faces on them.
7. Spook up the porch light.
By cutting off the back of a plastic pumpkin you can fit it over your porch light for a spooky orange glow. Depending on the style of your light, it may stay on by itself, but you can always secure it with duct tape or string.
8. Mummify your mason jars!
Googly eyes make these super cute.
9. Make a wreath of skeletal hands.
10. Or with a murder of crows!
I love the use of the goodie bag for the "Beware" text. Really clever!
11. Free-standing ghosts.
By adding fabric stiffener to cheesecloth, you can create gauzy ghosts that seem to float above the table. Just use a balloon and a bottle as a mold, then remove them once the cheesecloth has dried.
12. Creepy shrunken heads.
This project is just plain neat. After drying out the apples, decorate with odds and ends you found at the dollar store.
13. Halloween Town.
Just a bit of paint can turn plastic Christmas houses into spooky ones that fit perfectly in a Halloween village display!
