13 Fast Facts About Liam Neeson

Forget Vin Diesel, Tom Cruise, and Jason Statham. I am all about Liam Neeson. I think he's the best action star! Can you believe that he's 64 years old and he's still doing his own stunts?! Beyond his fantastic action movies, he's been in several movies that have become entrenched in pop culture. Let's hope Liam doesn't retire from acting any time soon! Here are some facts about the brilliant actor that will make you want to rewatch his best movies!

1. Before he was a famous actor, he was an amateur boxer in Northern Ireland.

2. Unfortunately, he decided to give it up after he was pretty beat up in a fight.

3. His first brush with acting was at 11 years old when his teacher gave him the lead in the school play. 

4. Did Liam accept the role because he was interested in acting? Nope! He took the part because he had a crush on one of the girls in the cast.

5. Liam's acting career changed when he was spotted by Steven Spielberg and was subsequently cast in Schindler's List. 

6. He was nominated for an Oscar for his work in the movie. 

7. Liam was heartbroken after the tragic passing of his wife. In an interview with Anderson Cooper, Liam revealed that it's something he still hasn't recovered from. "[Her death] was never real. It still kind of isn't," he said.

8. Majority of Star Wars fans don't usually list Phantom Menace as their favorite movie in the franchise. But Liam remains very proud of his work in that movie and said he had a blast shooting it.

9. He said that he wouldn't mind returning to the Star Wars universe and filming a Qui-Gon Jinn spin-off movie!

10. He was supposed to play James Bond! According to him, he was "heavily courted" but turned down the offer because his wife said she wouldn't get married to him if he played Bond!

11. He kind of became an action star by accident. He decided to do Taken because he wanted to try out an action movie, and he didn't have high expectations for Taken at the box office. It was a surprise for everyone!

“I really thought it would be kind of a little side road from my so-called career. Really thought it would go straight to video. But it just got great word of mouth.”

12. He really didn't see Taken becoming a series, but it's now a trilogy.

13. Unfortunately, Liam said Taken 3 is where the story ends. But let's hope he does more action films in the future!
