10 Pictures That Show The 'Ideal' Woman Throughout The Years

SHARE
Human beings are extremely judgmental things, though it's somewhat fair. I mean, it's in our nature to comment on other people, whether it's positive or negative. This is especially true when it comes to shaming women and making them conform to ridiculous standards. Though people have become more accepting when it comes to body image over the past couple of years, there's always been a trend for women to look a certain way. The difference now is that they are being told to look like a photoshopped image rather than something that is at least realistic. Here are 11 pictures that show the so-called "ideal" woman body throughout the years.

What do you think about the current state of "preferred" bodies? COMMENT and let us know.

Let's be honest, people are prettttyyyy shallow.

The sculpture of Nefertiti (1330-1370BC) shows that the preference at the time was for absolute symmetry.

In 1635, a more full-figured body was preferred to the current slender one.

In 1897, facial features became a big thing, though breasts began to play a large role (minus cleavage). Ankles were also sexualized. Big breasts, thin waists, and big butts. Think corsets.

In the '20s, "flappers" came to prominence. The preferred body type shifted from prominent body features to a more stick-like figure, lacking big breasts and having a smaller butt.

In the '30s, they brought back the thinner waist and decided that some curves were preferable to none (why can't anyone make up their mind?).

No doubt you know who this is. In the '50s, Marilyn Monroe was considered to be absolutely stunning, though some people questioned whether she actually fit what was "in" (curvy and wearing corsets again, an hourglass figure).

The '60s made a turn for the worse, preferring extremely thin bodies. This was called a "twig" body.

Did someone say Amazonian? The '80s saw a preference in bulkier, taller women. It was alllll about the legs!

The current "desired" female body features a massive butt and super flat stomach. In my opinion, this is the worst of all. Trying to achieve both of those things becomes extremely unrealistic because of genetics, not to mention how hard it is to achieve.
