12 Tips For Making Your Makeup Last All Day

SHARE
Face it. We've all been there. In this case, "there" refers to being in a particularly hot setting, feeling your foundation and other makeup melt off your face. There's also the classic "eye-shadow-ending-up-everywhere-but-your-eyes" thing, and my personal favorite: lip color that disappears the second you step out of the house. Fortunately, there are ways to combat these sticky beauty situations! If you aspire to have a fresh face that never strays, read ahead for 12 tips to give your makeup all-day lasting power.

1. Cleanse Your Canvas

To ensure your makeup lasts, the first step is to take care of your face! Use a good cleanser to remove buildup and excess oils.

2. Primer

Primer is basically a godsend. Using a primer will help all other makeup stay put.

3. Foundation

Foundation can be one of the messiest makeup products, especially when dealing with heat and humidity. Combat the melting effect by choosing an oil-free foundation with SPF.

4. Setting Powder

Setting powder will help lock down those pesky liquid foundations.

5. Layer

Whether it's your foundation, eyeshadow, or lip color, all makeup tends to stay on longer when you apply it in layers.

6. Eyeliner

When it comes to eyeliner, opt for a gel or liquid-based one. They'll stay on much longer than an eye pencil!

7. Blush

Cream blush sticks and cheek stains are longer-lasting than powder blushes.

8. Lipstick

Need your lipstick to withstand the test of time? Dry dusting some setting powder over colored lips for a matte finish that lasts.

9. Lip Stain

Lip gloss can be sticky, messy, and have a very short lifespan. Try a lip stain for lasting power.

10. Setting Spray

Setting spray is essentially magic. Spritz over your finished face for a look that lasts.

11. Blotting Papers

Oil blotting papers are a quick fix for when our makeup starts to act up. I carry them with me at all times!

12. Don't Touch!

Your makeup's biggest enemies are your own hands. Not only will touching your face threaten your makeup, but your hands are full of germs harmful to your complexion. Resist the urge to touch for a fresh face and makeup that lasts!
