Being overweight is definitely a struggle. There's this notion that it somehow makes you less of a human being. The standards placed upon people by society often require that we be thin in order to meet the norm, but this is more of a Western creation than anything else. While it is true that being obese comes with a plethora of health risks, it's never okay to judge people based on their weight. There are often very good reasons for people to have gained significant amounts of weight. It could be due to stress, emotional issues, or even a sickness. At the end of the day, we're usually not aware of someone's circumstances, so we shouldn't be so quick to judge.

When we're feeling off, we go see a doctor. Sometimes they have answers, sometimes they don't.

Stephanie Corliss' story began when she started feeling constant fatigue, eventually gaining quite a bit of weight.

She had tried various kinds of medication and therapy, but to no avail. She still felt tired and was continuing to gain weight.

She couldn't tolerate it anymore, so she went back to her doctor. His response? "You're overweight and lazy." You couldn't just let her down in a kind manner, could ya doc?

Thankfully, Stephanie decided to get a second opinion. The second doctor found that Stephanie had stage four papillary thyroid cancer.

If you're unaware, your thyroid is somewhat responsible for regulating your metabolic rate. Interferences in the hormones being excreted can lead to weight gain, fatigue, and many other symptoms.

Lucky for Stephanie, it wasn't too late. She soon underwent surgery and successfully had all the cancerous nodules removed!

Watch the video below to hear Stephanie tell her story!
