Keep Clothes Looking Like New With 16 Easy Tips

SHARE
I don't know about you, but I am extremely protective when it comes to my clothing. After all, we work hard for our wardrobes, so nothing is worse than watching them become damaged over time. Fortunately, there are many awesome tips out there for protecting your garments from unnecessary wear and tear. If you're like me and treat your clothing like your children, read ahead for 16 tips to keep your shoes and clothes looking like new.

1. Wash Accordingly

Those little labels on the inside of your clothing are there for a reason! Ensure you follow them to preserve the lifespan of your clothes.

2. Laundry Bags

Wash delicate clothing in mesh laundry bags to protect them from snags and other damage.

3. Steam, Don't Iron!

Invest in a clothing steamer to eliminate wrinkles. They cause less damage to fabrics than ironing.

4. Adjustable Hangers

Use adjustable hangers to avoid stretching out your clothing.

5. The Hang-Fold

Say goodbye to stretched out sweater shoulders by mastering this hang-fold technique.

6. Hang To Dry

Repeated dryer cycles cause wear and tear to clothing. Hang your clothes to dry instead and watch your utility bill go down!

7. Fight Moths

Repel moths and other clothes-eating creatures by using cedar accessories in your closet and cedar products on your clothing.

8. Sweat Stains No More

Eliminate gross sweat stains on your whites by following these easy steps.

9. Zip Zippers

Do up your zippers before throwing them in the wash to prevent snags on other clothing.

10. Boot Shapers

Cut pool noodles to the height of your favorite boots to keep them from slouching and creasing.

11. Sweater Shaver

My biggest pet peeve when it comes to clothing are those annoying little pills that attach themselves to my knits. Eliminate them by using a sweater shaver!

12. Shoe Horn

Protect your kicks from crushed, damaged heels by using a shoe horn. And when they come in designs this pretty, why wouldn't you use one?

13. Garment Brush

Use a garment brush to remove dust and other annoying specks from your clothing.

14. Don't Cram!

Squashing your clothing together in a closet will damage fabric over time. Let your clothing breathe by hanging extra pieces on a free-standing clothing rack.

15. Heel Caps

Protect worn-out heels from further damage (and yourself from sinking into soft ground!) with these handy heel caps.

16. Waterproof

Last but not least, coat your leather and suede shoes and jackets with a waterproof spray to protect them from the elements!
