Best Doctor Ever Stitches Up The Favorite Toy Of His 9-Year-Old Patient

SHARE
Did you have a favorite toy growing up? I did. It was a brown stuffed dog I named Ruffy, who had been washed so many times that his fur was worn away. I still have him, though he's safely stored away in the closet where my real dogs can't confuse him for a chew toy. I took Ruffy everywhere.

When 9-year-old Ryan went in for surgery at the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, he took his very favorite toy with him. It's a stuffed toy of Mike Wazowski, a main character from Pixar's Monsters, Inc. Mike's a bit ragged, though, as lots of favorite toys become, and his urologist, Dr. Travis Groth, noticed this fact. So he performed a quick surgery on Mike, suturing a tear in the doll's arm.

Ryan has had eight surgeries in his life, and his favorite toy has been with him for every single one.

Dr. Groth has made it a habit to stitch up any toys that are worse for wear, but this is the first time he's been caught on camera.

When the hospital posted this photo on their Facebook page of Mike getting "surgery," many parents commented, expressing joy at the discovery of which doctor had done the same for their child in the past.

Mike's even got bandages.

A spokesperson from the hospital said, "Both Ryan and Mike are recovering well at home."

Mike is such an awesome friend to have with you when you're scared.
